"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" Feature Talkback (Spoilers)

I'm also not getting the negative reaction to the setting. Sure, some elements I could do without (Anakin taking on a Padawan?) but the Clone Wars are a massive part of Star Wars continuity, a three year long conflict on a massive scale. There are a ton of stories you can tell there and we got some of them during the three year wait between Episode II and III. This film and series might drop the ball but the setting itself has potential.

I'm also going to buck the trend and say I'm not that keen on seeing sequels with the original cast. The Star Wars EU is a mess, full of terrible half baked ideas stemming from the whims of writers who can't agree. Is Star Wars science fiction? fantasy? Mystical? Technical? I'm certainly not interested in seeing them animate nonsense like the dull back and forth of the Bantam era or the over the top threats of the New Jedi Order series.

Sci Fi combines elements of Fantasy, mystical, and technical though all into one, so it is indeed Sci-Fi. I wouldn't mind seeing items in the EU done. Heck, I'd love to see a Young Jedi Knights series, but I'd rather see them as animation and get the VA's to do their roles instead of seeing them again in live action. I didn't even recognize Cari Fisher as Princess Leia with the older wrinkles and whatnot on the Special Editions.

The problem is, the average fan and writer seems to view Star Wars as die hard science fiction. Hence we need exact stats and pseudo science for all the technology, alien invasion plots, etc. I'd say Lucas has lost his way in his old age but the way alot of the EU writers and fans picture it is no more nearer to capturing the appeal. The original 2D Clone Wars was one of those rare ocassions that nailed it. Star Wars isn't deep, brooding sci-fi. It's supposed to be a fun series of 2 hour movies, with great action scenes, memorable villains and quick witted heroes. That's something I don't get from the majority of the EU stuff, with it's boring politics, half arsed alien attempts at Earth sayings and constant brooding.

I like Star Wars but it is getting old, I mean come on star wars have a 3rd movie so don't start it over again, or I guess this movie will be 4th but anyway if the star wars nerds want then so it be.

I saw the trailer and it the same line over, the green guy alway say......... I Hear, I am freaking sick of it and also the girl with the baby and the girl try to be sexy, I am sorry but only human girl turn me on

Eh, I'm iffy in regards to seeing this or whatever (since I can't really think for the moment of what has to really really be covered during the Clone Wars).

Oh and pardon the snarkiness and ill-tempered nature of this next statement: But what are you people thinking in regards to using Expanded Universe post-ROTJ. The era of KOTOR's where it's at!

O.O ... um... Ahsoka isn't there to turn you on (Furthermore she's probably like 13-14 years old)... She's there to inspire the female audience. (something the rest of the Star War movies have utterly failed to do.)

Ahsoka is a welcomed addition, and I'm curious as to how her adventure will end. (since we don't see her in episode 3 whatsoever)

WB does not own CN. They're sister networks. Time Warner owns Warner Brothers as well as Turner Broadcasting which owns Cartoon Network (and TNT - which is why Clone Wars is being shared between the two networks).

Really what's the point of adding in another clone wars series? And in were in the world could this possibly take place in the clone wars?

>_> At least give us something a bit interesting like maybe something before Star Wars episode I?

Oh and I am not bashing it I am just simply just saying this movie really has no point to it. We all know Anakin becomes Darth Vader and seriously whatever Jedi friend he makes is most likely going to die.

I'll catch a matinee tomorrow. I can spare $6 and 98 minutes of my life, so why not.

Besides, to appreciate great movies you need to see some bad ones, right ;)

See it's one of those movies that good or bad I feel some sort of strange duty to see it. I think that's the evil effect of the Star Wars franchise at work.

Oh good, I'm not above that type of movie.

I'm expecting the dialogue to be horrendous anyway, otherwise it wouldn't be consistent with the rest of the Star Wars movies.

It was done years ago on Cartoon Network, so they don't need a movie based on it. Anyone else think that Anakin's Padawan looks like a younger version or is the same race as Jedi favorite Shaak-Ti?

Didn't you see Maxie Zeus's review a few posts back? Here's a quote from that review...

"No one has any personality, except Ahsoka, who's got her whiny California tweener mall-rat act down so cold you'll be rooting to see her sliced in half only five minutes after she's introduced."

...that pretty much sums it up for me. Hey, if you like her, fine...not everyone has the same tastes, after all.

But I don't think every movies was great, this isn't the Clone Wars series, and I don't think George Lucas is great. Why should I be optimistic? I'm not gonna bash the movie before seeing it but my expectations aren't very high

I do have the terrible feeling that as soon as the series wraps up, her ultimate fate is going to be appearing as an old lady in one of the books, informing Luke of how awesome his father was. Much like how after the prequels ended R2 suddenly had recordings of all the key scenes in Episode III to show him.

In fairness, I didn't hate her. I just wanted to see her die. There's a difference. :p

(You can only hate someone you care a little bit about. I didn't care a jot about Ahsoka. But then, I didn't care a jot about anyone in that movie.)

Damn, I was almost about to see the movie this weekend without reading anything about it. That was close. I think I'll rewatch Wall-E instead.

i'm not gonna go watch this in theaters but i'll give the show a chance when it starts on CN. i didnt' really think the previews looked terrible for this movie, i'm just not really interested enough to spend money on it. also they should make a show about dash rendar...that would be pretty sweet
