Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith DVD

Well this is released on October 31st for anyone who doesn't know.

I know I'm going to buy it as I did enjoy the latest film and thought it was a great improvment on the previous prequels.

Does anyone know of any deals at any shops for the DVD? I know HMV has a special slipcase with new artwork which comes with the DVD when you buy it.

Thanks, that is a very good deal.

I think I may get it from HMV. I've got a card to get some money of it there so it could work out cheaper.

The special features sound good on it.

Just a thought for when the box set comes out (as it surely will)...

Will us bottomless pockets (sorry, fans) be able to buy a presentation box for parts I-III to match the first set of DVRAB, or will we be expected to buy them all again ?

Something for the merchandising machine to consider !

Having thought about it, they'll probably re-surface in a few years with 30 seconRAB of "new" footage anyway !

Cynical, moi ? Never !

I still love Star Wars though !

well so far we've got the I-III box set to come out then the I-VI box set to come out.. then the original cinema releases to come out on DVD ( if George will allow it) plus the HD DVD versions as well

The main Special Feature documentary "Within A Minute" on the ROTS DVD is GREAT.

The problem with ROTS though is if you don't have a progressive scan DVD player that can output progressive in both PAL and NTSC and you have a big HDTV etc the picture looks absolutely horrible because it was shot in progressive so if you are playing the film on a regular interlace DVD player it will suffer from jagged edges, jumping images that should be still and many other problems whenever the camera moves. Even if your TV has a line doubler (TV-progressive) it still doesn't make any difference to the image in terms of the overall film presentation. I actually looked at Chapter 7 being a perfect daylight scene example in both progressive and interlace mode via my DVD player to see the difference and it was very obvious. In interlace mode there was jagged lines and flickering on still objects all over the place. In progressive mode there was no jagged lines at all and the picture looked 100% smooth and flicker free.

A large majority of movies are shot mainly in interlace so when the TV doubles the lines even if you don't have a progressive scan DVD player the picture still looks great anyway.

Go to disc 1 and to language. Hightlight the THX logo and press 1138 then press enter for the hip hop yoda video.

Another small note. In the chosen one featurette theres footage from The Phantom Menace which has Yoda replaced by a digital one.

finally watched it last night and i have to say the acting doesn't get any better.. even Ian McDairmid who can act overacts all the time.. nice to see Padme with Princess Leia hair though

it'sa shame as this could have been made so much better

It's the same old story with most of the hollywood stars, or well known actors anyway. They all think It's a competition on who can produce the best performance on screen, and because of this, they all end up looking like a bunch of over acting wanabees. They should concentrate on just relaxing and making their scene as natural as possible, but instead, they just go way over the top.

I haven't see revenge of the sith yet, but will hopefully be watching this today, so I'll see what their acting ability Is like.

Great actors need a good script and George has got worse at writing good scripts over the years. His love story between padme and anakin is very bad. He is lucky he got Ewan to be obiwan, a lesser actor could of ruined that role. As it stanRAB Ewan still had some awful lines and some dreadfull scenes.

The quality of the picture on the ep3 dvd is amazing, noticable the best looking dvd I have seen.

I wish he would release the original cuts of ep4-6 but it will never happen as that would be like george admitting he was wrong to add the cgi and I think the dvd sales would be limited to real die hard fans only.

As far as the HD versions I'm sure either blu-ray or HD-DVD are wooing Lucas with very lucrative deals to get the 6 films out on HD for their release. I think fox are with blu ray so maybe we'll see hi def starwars nect year.
I think ep1-3 will look good on HD but ep4-6 will suffer as the cgi added will stand out a whole lot more.

I think Episodes 1-3 will all suffer from the cgi standing out badly. I've just watched Revenge of the Sith on DVD and alot of the CGI stood out in a bad way such as the clone troopers, alot of the Yoda stuff, movement of CGI "stunt doubles". When I saw the film in the cinema I didn't notice the CGI as much.

I think the Episodes 1-4 may hold up better with a lot of the environments being physical sets and real world, some of the environments in the prequels look too smoth and shiny an lack texture, although Coruscant looks great.
