Star Wars in chronological order

Just imagine the first Star Wars written and filmed was The Phantom Menace instead of A New Hope and that the original trilogy wasn't written and filmed until the late 1990's.

First of all do you think the franchise would have been as successful as it has been? Who would you have got to play the significant roles in the movies?

Personally I would have done as I did.......watched the Phantom Menace on the big screen and having realised what a pile of turd it was saved my hard earned and watched the final 2 of the trilogy via other means...........as to how successful it would have been, I've a feeling it wouldn't have made it to a fourth film tbh.

I have 2 young nephews, and I asked my brother about whether (when the time comes to indoctrinate them into the Star Wars fold) ;) he'd show them the films in production order or chronological, and he came up with something i hadn't realised.

He said they'd got frienRAB whos kiRAB saw it SW chronologically, and the kiRAB don't really see Darth Vader as as the evil villain. To them, he's still Anakin. And, i suppose, if your not really following all the political stuff in I, II and III (as a young child might struggle with), i suppose i can see how that's possible.

Because they've not been show the scary Darth Vader first, what they see is a young boy taken from his mother by a religious order, who treat him with little respect. They ban him from seeing the woman he loves and attempt to murder his father figure. His best friend hacks off his legs, and he has to live the rest of his days in a special suit with dodgy breathing apparatus due to his injuries!

:D

I've always felt that doing the final 3 first carried a huge "wow" factor with the revelations of TESB. This would have been just another part of the story had we followed Vader trough the new trilogy first.

My wife is foreign, and had never seen Star Wars before. I told her that her life was about to change and that we would watch a movie a day. We started with The Phantom Menace - big mistake. She fell asleep after half-an-hour, and now won't touch any of the movies. She thinks they're all as bad as Episode I.

Phantom Menace is poo.

My and my mate Mark waited for months to see it and when we finally saw it on the big screen ?, well I was so disappointed I couldn't even finish my popcorn in disgust.

If it was in the proper order there would never of been the attack of the clones or any other, Lucas basically released three terrible movies on the back of nostalgia from the original trilogy

Given that the working title was "Adventures of the Starkiller: Episode 1 - The Star Wars", the 3 prequels were obviously a later idea carried on the successful fanbase of the original trilogy.

In my opinion, A New Hope works successfully as a standalone film, while the others are clearly part of a larger whole.

I would always introduce people to the Star Wars universe in the order they were made.

I have to say, I saw the original trilogy back in the 70's/80's when they came out when I was a kid, I never saw Vader as a evil villan but rather as a tragic figure.
