Star Wars 7, 8 and 9

I guess one way of producing another movie would be to not do Episode 7, but if the live action series is a success make a film spin-off of that. In effect they did that with The Clone Wars film already. If the film is a success you have an instant franchise and none of the problems of continuing the core Saga.

Along that note, I wouldn't be overly suprised if the pilot to the TV show got a small-scale cinema release like The Clone Wars did.

BTW, am I the only one thinking we may see Sam Witwer as Starkiller from The Force Unleashed videogame in the live action show? He's certainly got a good pedegree in cult TV (Battlestar Galactica, Smallville, Dexter etc).

Will these ever get made? There seems to be endless conflicting information.

There's been the clone wars movie, quotes from Lucas saying there'll be a TV show, more movies from a different generation of characters (such as KOTOR period), and maybe even an episode 0....(!) What about those non-dislosure agreements, the quotes from the 80's calling the series a twelve-part saga, or even recent quotes from Mark Hamill and the guy who plays Chewbacca claiming something's happening in terms of new films.....?

There's so much in 'the works' so to speak, or quietly 'greenlit' if you like.
Heck, even if there isn't gonna be 7, 8, 9 any time soon, there's lots of the above I've mentioned....

I haven't explained myself very well. There's just....so much information on loaRAB of stuff. Even Lucas mentioned Episode 7 in a press conference (or comic convention) couple years back. If there's a TV show, and even other movies, then can you see 7, 8 and 9 coming to light?

GL should delete EPI - III and re film them with clone wars included and better plot/acting (remove pretty much all of EpI), rather than even contemplate 7,8,9

Seen GL has been talking about another re-release of the SW films, this time in 3D. It's not on the carRAB yet as it's too expensive to convert existing films but they are looking at developing the technology to make it possible soon.

If anything else did come out of the franchise, I won't be watching any of it.
Lucas should have left it at the three original films, but he obviously saw the dollar signs and embarked on the 'filler' movies and made out it was always his intention to do them.

Cause it was George.

The idea was ok, it was just poorly exicuted.
We all wanted to see the adventures of the younger Obi Wan and Yoda, and how Darth Vader became evil.

I certainly wouldn't mind owning another version fo The Phantom Menace that has a CGI Yoda instead of that awful puppet and perhaps put back in more of Maul's lines?

Also, something hit me the other day. Seeing as how they did Clone Wars with the new animation, they could always tell the stories of post Jedi as either an animated series of a series of animated movies. The actors (Ford, Fisher, Hamill) could lend their voice! :)

Which 'post-Jedi' stories, though? There's so many now in comic or book form it would be hard to pick. Alternatively, they could come up with something new, but the problem there would be to avoid clashing with the existing stories.

I think the only way would be to pick new characters to follow.

Lucas quite recently (in May of this year) said there is no chance of more films beyond Jedi.

"Whatever it is that happens afterward, that isn't the core 'Star Wars' story (...) There really isn't any story to tell there. It's been covered in the books and video games and comic books, which are things I think are incredibly creative but that I don't really have anything to do with other than being the person who built the sandbox they're playing in."

I get asked all the time, 'What happens after Return of the Jedi?', and there really is no answer for that. The movies were the story of Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker, and when Luke saves the galaxy and redeems his father, that's where that story enRAB."

Why not just be done with it and serialise it. It seema moves have already been made in that direction with the cgi clone wars thingy on Sunday. Haven't seen it though.

I bet a live serialisation isn't far away. I just hope that Lucas doesn't have anything to do with writing it. WHo am I kidding it'll be rubbish no matter what.

Live action series is due 2010. Lucas is not writing it.

Producer Ric McCallum says it will be "much darker, much grittier, and it's much more character based" and Lucas says it will be "for more mature audiences like TV shows Battlestar Galactica and Firefly."

It'd like to believe them.
