Star Wars 2 - Attack Of the Clones *spoillers*

Ive just seen it for the second time. I have to say im a little disappointed...

Its a much, much better film than PM but there was some absolutly groanfull moments (including the Yoda fiasco...) to be honest there were some parts when we laughed and those where not when the intentially funny moments were..

All in all.. out of ten, id give it 7.. (where PM would be 5, ANH would be 9, TESB 10 and ROTJ 9)

I cant understand all the rave reviews...

I was surprised that the whole theatre erupted in laughter when yoda, seemingly suffering from athritus drags himself out the shadows and starts his kung fu warm up. It looked like something from Austin Powers.
I really can't tell if it was supposed to be humerous or not but they could have thrown in an obvious matrix type trick to top it off.

I was bored until the end, I think it was badly put together, too much with the love scenes etc.
Still, I'm glad that I've seen it, only one more to go now :)

Ok saw it yesterday.
Now i understand the Yoda thing.

Better than Episode 1 and either on par if not better than Episode 6.

The one thing i did not like was that Yoda was CGI but that's my opinion, i think good models and puppets have a better on screen presents.

The dialogue is terrable as always, but hay it's Star Wars so it's as always acceptable.
Why everyones moaning about the love scenes, i don't know. I didn't find them distracting at all, though like me you may find this a good time to take a piss break.

As for action it cannot be faulted. It's probably the most action packed of all the star wars films (so far); city chase, 3/4 jedi battles, ground battle, space chase, factory rescue, monster battles...

Conclusions:

ep 1: 5/10
ep 2: 7.5/10
ep 3: ? /10
ep 4: 10/10
ep 5: 9/10
ep 6: 7.5/10

Anyone that likes the Star Wars films should see it (the real fans already have).
And for those that do not get that tingle feeling, or roar at the start, why bother as all you're going to do is moan, and slag it off with the silliest excuses you can think of.

Star Wars is not a film it's an experience.

The REAL fans like me are waiting until its on the premier screen at Star City in Birmingham with THX and Digital Projection... the way Star Wars Episode II was MEANT to be seen

y was a new hope, empire strikes back and return of the jedi, called that yet, the two new films have the worRAB "epsiode x" inserted??

My views on EPII was much better now Ive seen it more than once. If you can throw the slightly pukish love story out of the window (at least get rid of that damn cheesy meddow scene) then its bareable.. I loved the fight scene with the drop ships etc second time out. Id give the film now an 8 out of 10.

I still love it when Anakin gets pissed when his mother dies. That bit is just awesome.

hehe. A good bit of the film is where the two Jedi are in the Bar and the kid goes

kid: Do you want to buy some death-sticks?
Kenobe: You dont want to sell me death-sticks
kid: I dont want to sell you death-sticks
Kenobe: You want to go home and think your life over
kid: I want to go home and think my life over

:D

hehe

That was very cool. :D

Throughout the saga, mainly due to it being one man's vision, there have been the odd very strange and annoying decisions made. Remove those and you have a flawless set of 6 films.

For instance, having those unconvincing pig creatures in ROTJ, letting them all have 70s haircuts throughout, Jar-Jar Binks, Queen Amidala's daft clothes and Padme's constant outfit changes, the enormous reduction in the droiRAB' roles in the first three prequels. I could go on. Smallish, niggly decisions the series could live without have allowed none-fans to use them as reasons why the whole lot are crap and for megafans to groan that it's not turning out how it should be.

George is going to add footage and effects into all the old films for the DVRAB so that it all ties together. Unfortunately, Jar-Jar has to stay but the other major problems may yet be eased on his revisiting.

George is still a complete genius, whatever. You also have to look at the films as the audience he was aiming at: Himself and 12 year old kiRAB.

Absolutely agree about the kiRAB thing....I think a lot of people must have forgotten they were 12 (I was only 6) when they first saw *Star Wars*, so are bound to have a different view of it than when they see *The Phantom Menace* when they're in their mid 20s or whatever.

All this *George Lucas raped my childhood* nonsense - they're HIS films, I don't know why people have this idea that he owes them anything!! Anyway, haven't seen AOTC, but will hopefully go this w/e, and am sure will enjoy it enormously!

What really gets me about the comments here is, okay the SW saga is not purfect. Yes GL dialoge is ropey, and Jar Jar was a mistake, but if you dont like the movie, go and cream yourself with LOTR and write about it in a LOTR thread.

Mr Lucus gave us: Star Wars, Indy, Industrial Light and Magic, and THX. Without these where you we be? ALL the films suffered from his faults, and ALL the films made the most of his talents. Some may be better than others, but how many films with sequels have been this good?

And if you live anywhere near London please go and see SW at Odean Leicster Sq as its Digital Projection, much sharper. So, how many places up and down the country have digital projectors?
