Star Trek Preview Screening

I've been on Youtube watching some of the interviews and press from the debuts (debutes?) and it's nice to see the actors being respectful of the material and their position in the whole thing.

I'm not a big Star Trek fan (I'll watch it if it's on, except for those Original episodes that are still shown late night) and while there will always be a bit of tongue-in-cheek about Star Trek, the new movie seems to be respectful whilst moving the whole thing forward.

Got my IMAX ticket reserved for 3pm Thursday 7th May. Cannot wait, never been to an IMAX before and it should be a bit better than the flee pit in my home town.

WOW! Just got back from the See Film First preview in Norwich and must say that was one of the most enjoyable cinema trips I've had in years, what's more my sci-fi hating girlfriend loved it too!

Great action, great humour, a fantastic cast (Bones and Scotty my particular favourites, although there's not enough of the latter for my liking), I would happily pay to go and see it a second time when it's released.

Anyone setting out to hate the film because it supposedly messes with TOS canon deserves to have a miserable couple of hours IMHO, this film is the proverbial shot in the arm Star Trek has needed for the last decade (possibly more).

5*

Given how loud it was when I saw it in Leicester Square, IMAX speakers will probably make your ears bleed! Watch out for the new "warp speed" effect - possibly the loudest thing in the whole movie.

this film rocks big time! no complaints from me and i'm a die-hard old trek fan. whilst i would have loved another tng film, this makes 'nemesis' look like amateur hour. it will be a huge hit with mainstream audiences without doubt, which another tng film was unlikely to manage, however good.
star trek will live longer and prosper again thanks to jj and and his gang's imagination.

YAY! My girlfreind saw an ad in Heat mag and got us 2 ticks to a free preview next tuesday! It's through See Film First, promo code was 485310, not sure tthat it will still work mind you.

Just back from seeing it in Bristol. Posted my thoughts in the cult section, but in a nutshell...

Loved it. Wasn't perfect. Well worth seeing though, Trek fan or not.

I must admit the overwhelming positive response is really reassuring for this fan! I won't be seeing it for a bit but I've been listening to Michael Giacchino's soundtrack and that's got me fired up. He's brilliant as usual, he does the music for Lost and there are bits that remind me of that but probably his score for the Pixar film The Incredibles is most evident here in his Trek score. The new main theme is PERFECT for Star Trek's reinvention.

I am SO FRUSTRATED...

I am a huge star trek fan and can't wait to see the film.

I tried your code out of Heat and it worked but there are NO seats left at any of the 10 or so places they are showing it.

I would love to get to a preview screening of it.

Anyone else got any ideas? As it is driving me mad that I seem to be missing out like this!

Strangely, I thought the soundtrack was fairly forgettable while watching it and not up the standarRAB of some of the previous scores. I couldn't hum the main theme now for example. Will have to find a copy of OST and see if I think it works better standalone.

The soundtract isn't officially out but you can get it online if you look in the right places.

As for the music I am certain that it is not ALL on the OST and there was more in the film that was left off the album.

We had to hand in our phones and the ladies were all bag searched before entry to the screening as to weed out any potential recording devices.. Before the film the cinema manager stood in front and read a prepared statement from Paramount stressing the importance of secrecy as the film was not yet out in the USA.
