STAR TREK....New Movie

Patrick Stewart has just been on This Morning and was asked if rumours of a new film were true.

He couldn't say much but he did confirm there was "great interest" in getting the next gen cast together again as wll as including characters from the other series.

He was asked if this meant Capt Kirk would come back, but he would only say he hoped so as Shatner was a good friend so he didn't deny it.

Obviously he wasn't giving much away but if the cast have been approached and they have a script then I can't see it not happening. Stewart certainly didn't say he was against the idea and seemed keen on it.

Force, yes, creative, no... Enterprise only really started to get good once Manny Cato go hold of it albeit too late to save the series.

I think Star Trek should stay dead and buried until Berman & Braga are well out of the picture...

Nearly posted this myself. I do think Berman did some good work back in the 3rd/4th/5th season of TNG, but it was really Michael Piller who was helming the show at that stage. It was really the late Piller's genius which shone in the creation of RAB9 and Voyager, he largely writing the 'bibles' and pilots for both shows.

Well, it's fair enough to point out that if these side-splitting one-liners had concerned Sulu's race, they would be deemed totally unacceptable and would probably have been dealt with by moderators.

Having said that, the biggest problem with these jokes isn't that they are homophobic, it's that they are pish. It's the people who do laugh at this crap who need their sense of humour examined - not those who don't.

yeah aaaanyway.... moving back on topic.

I do look forward to each star trek movie - but after starttrek 3 the original series was a little stale, the next-gen series of movies was 'ok' for the first one - the rest got progressively worse...

the series have been way too fixed in an idealistic world for far too long - with geeks at the helm what can you expect the end product to be ? I actually liked enterprise - It was a little more 'mainstream' and 'down to earth' that previous trek series.

Deep space 9 was dull - a shopping center in space - wow - thrilling fun ! with some crap race of aliens - I DONT CARE! boohooo... shutup bajorans we dont care about your misserable plight.

Voyager had potential - but the captain woman freaked me out - weird voice! and I was sick of how bum-kissing all the crew were... the ship was the best member of the crew in that thing.

I heard potential talks of Captain Kurk coming back to reprise his role in some 'mirror universe' movie? i wasnt a fan of the rubbish 'killing off' of kurk from generations - that was sillyness.

anyway - here it is ... http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=22021
