Star Trek (2009) new Trailer

As a rule, I dislike anything Star Trek.

Yet...this trailer makes me really want to see the film/understand about Star Trek.

Plus, is it weird that I still fancy Zachary Quinto, even in Spock getup?

I am weak. I couldn't resist any longer. (At least to put one over the eejits at Paramount who think we won't see it before its on their site).

I thought it was a different film at the start lol then
the kid spoke...oh....my......
It looks freakin' awsome!

Haham I thought that was a great trick. Imagine seeing it at the cinema, having no idea what film it was about to preview!

I was confused too, thinking some idiot has uploaded the wrong film trailer... nice trailer. Not a fan of Star Trek at all but the trailer makes me want to see this.

They're treating it like a super secret goverment device. It's crazy...I've not seen this happen with other trailers? There is building hype and there is shitting on the fans. I know which this childish nonsense this falls under.

Sky Movies Premiere will be showing it on Tuesday at 19.45. I know it will be officialy availabe before that, but it will be great to see it on the big TV screen and in HD.

Interesting article here which will no doubt add fuel to the "love it/hate it" fire.

Contains some non specific spoilers (but spoilers non-the-less):

In addition to the article
it's also been confirmed that in the lead up to the movie there will be a four part comic entitled Star Trek: Cowntdown set in the Picard post Nemesis era which tells the story of how/why the character travels back in time to create the parallel timeline.

I thought they were taking the piss a little bit, particularly when they kept referring to quantum mechanics as the most "current and awesome" theory.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I get the impression they added all this just to appease the crazy fans who like their continuity to tie up perfectly, then made this interview to kinda laugh at the notion of having to tie it all up perfectly.

Best example of this (note this could be considered to contain a very minor spoiler);

Dont know if theyre taking the piss but I do agree with your impression. It's no secret they are trying to make this film attractive not just to the Trek fans but also to the general audience (actually I'd go as far as saying that the main target audience are the non Trekkers imo). But they are clearly trying to keep both target audiences happy. Average joe will want to watch this movie cause it's another cool reboot like Bond and Batman, a fresh start without the geeky baggage traditionally associated with Star Trek. To the dedicated Trekkie it will be cannon set in a parallel timeline. Both sides happy...in theory at least.

One of the writers is a HUGE Trekker and it seems he's gone out of his way to fit it into Trek canon. Personally I think they should just say there's a TV universe and a movie universe, both seperate. Inconsistencies were already brought up in Wrath of Khan where Chekov hadn't even been in the show when Khan was originally in it, so he couldn't have known him.
