Star Trek (2009) new Trailer

I don't think anything could be as disappointing as that pathetic excuse for a ThunderbirRAB film even if it tried.

At least Star Trek won't have product placement for Ford or the director's wife in every single scene!

Used to drive me crazy as well. The ship might have inertial compensators but can they really deal with a few billion tonnes of starship turning on a dime without the crew becoming strawberry jam

That is why I always preferred the space battle in Wrath of Khan

Well that's good then. It's proving that this new direction is working in one way. :)

Nope. You can have Spock, but leave Kirk for me...:o

I love the fact that it appears that he and Uruhra are knocking boots already.

Well the simple solution is to not go and see the film. Cut your losses with it now and stay in Trek Past.

True, very true.;)

But we do have "Rebellious Kirk, brought to you by Corvette" ;)

I like this notion too. Sure the Federation are a peaceful organisation, but they've got to defend themselves. It's almost another progression from Enterprises' MACO's.

I'll just sit back and watch the Enterprise haters run all over that one..

I don't think that's Uhura we see Kirk getting it on with in the trailer. I thought it was at first, when I watched the leaked version. But when I downloaded the official hi-res one, she looked white to me.

So I'm pretty sure its some other random chick. Personally, I'd like it to be Carol Marcus (the mother of Kirk's son from Wrath of Khan) if only to stick it in the eye of all the people complaining about them ignoring continuity!

I'm not convinced.

It looks too far removed from the Star Trek before - the dignified, quiet intelligence of the previous two (movie) casts seems absent.
J J Abrams looks to have gone for gung-ho MTV-style action and story and in this way Star Trek will fail to elevate itself as a unique movie experience and add nothing to wat has previously gone before.

Ahemm .........Man some of you guys are SAD.

Its a NEW revise of an old franchise that slowly died on its arse because the serious fans took too much control- arguing more about the way a warp nacelle works rather than entertainment.

This hardcore serious notion that followed Star Trek in its latter years made it into a geek cult only area- hopefully this film is an attempt to reinvent the franchise into what it originally was- an entertaining show.

A lot of people who aren't trekkies -still know about Star Trek but its been tarnished into an obscure geeky cult this will still make it hard for someone to go 'two tickets to see Star Trek please' who isnt a die hard nerd.

I watched the show when I was young and I'm looking forward to this remake. Star Trek was an adventure - but became a lecture show hopefully this will inject the exploration and action spark for new life and new civilizations.

I don't see the BSG in this 'reboot', certainly not from the trailer.
Hopefully it's the MIIII JJ and not the Cloverfield one (which to be fair he didn't direct).

1. He clearly isn't Captain of the Enterprise in all of this film. There's enough info around to make that obvious.

2. I don't believe it has EVER been stated on screen when or where Kirk met Carol Marcus. Yep, that's right, its only canon when its stated on screen. The rest of fan-wank. Official fan-wank, on occasion. But still fan-wank. If it is Carol, then this film would be the first to put their meeting into canon.

But it looks like it isn't Carol anyway, so you can unknot those knickers now ;)
