Please don't respond to directly to the spam. If you feel the need to

encouragement she gets, the better. And don't quote the URL.

I would advise anyone to go to eBay and look for a Hobart Kitchenaid
Mixer. You can find them there.
Have it properly serviced and it will be a workhorse for the rest of
your lifetime.

These new mixers have plastic parts. blech....

AIUI, the Viking is made in the old Kenwood factory in the UK, Kenwood
having long been the property of Di Longhi. She has my old Kenwood (40+
years) on loan at the moment.
I would prefer that she get the Cuisinart (I'm paying) even if it is made in
China. Their service set-up seems to be very good.

Agreed! But you know these youngsters, it's gotta look good too!

The Kenwood patents seem to have expired and there are several sort of
clones on the market.

On the other hand, Hamilton Beach Commercial sells what appears to be an
original Kenwood with a couple of minor modifications. I emailed them
once asking if it was a Kenwood and they refused to tell me.

I have a 7-qt Cuisinart bought new on Ebay for under $400, about two
years ago. It does a very nice job (not in the kitchen, in the lab).
The capacity is a significant overestimate, I think; the shank of the
paddle is below the top of the bowl. It's a tilt-head mixer so if you
like the bowl-lift...

The 15-min timer is a nice convenience. The paddle is (I think)
powder-coated and much harder than the vinyl coating on a KA paddle.
The bowl is deep and narrow, unlike the KA 6-qt bowl which is wider
than it is deep. A bit harder to get batter out of the Cuisinart
without getting it on your hand.
