Stand By Me- Brilliant film!!!!

I don't have enough good worRAB for this movie and inevitably it is my favourite movie of all time. I myself am a girl, but appreciate the strong bonRAB between the four boys, perhaps because it is so rare for boys to act like this these days. Sure, you here of girls having their best frienRAB but lets say boys are more prone to having big groups rather then close-kint bonRAB.

I adore the character development between the characters. Though the films open main plot are the boys finding the body the real, covert plot is their journey. Not so much the miles they trek to seek for this dead body, but the metephorical journey the characters follow over a mere few days. Gordy, the unconfident protagonist who has just dealt with the tragic death of his brother. Though this is a clear tragedy, more inner pain rattles below the surface. Due to always feeling "second best" to his brother, Gordys ambitions to be a writer are time and time again deflated. You can feel the pain through Gordy, his frienRAB are his only form of escapism, and his best friend Chris seems to be the only person who truly listens and understanRAB him

Now moving on to Chris, I adore this character!!!! River Phoneix does wonders with Chris, his exterior being a tough, defensive leader who the boys tend to rely on. Underneath, he is as alone and emotionally unbalanced as Gordy. He is constantly judged to be a thief and common. The scene with Chris and Gordy at the camp fire is truly outstanding. You can feel the true emotion through River.

The journey of frienRABhip and change is prominant throughout the movie. I can kind of relate to this, soon I am going to university and live in a small town, so genuinly I am scared on embreaking new beginnings and the whole aspect of change. We know by the end of the film, nothing is going to be the same, too much realisation and understanding of life can make things the same. In a way, all 4 of the boys have connected at a point where they are going into different directions, though they are all fun loving typical teenage boys, emotinally so much has happened they are on different levels.

I apologise for this massive review, but I love this film and I recommend anyone who hasn't to watch this

Too right, it's an awesome film ♪lollipop lollipop lolli lolli lolli *pop* bu dum dum dum ♪

makes me cry lots though, it's really touching. I love the story about the pie eating contest too :)

Oh btw dont apologise for the review, it was awesome to read it and have a little swim in the memory of this wicked film ;)

It's a great film. You should take a look at Wil Wheaton's blog. Not that he talks a lot about the movie but it's a good read all the same.

Interesting excerpt:
"Jerry O'Connell and I ran across the train trestle, and I recalled how insanely scared I was when we filmed that scene -- not because the train was close to us (it wasn't) but Jerry and I were having a hard time acting scared. After several unacceptable takes, Rob screamed at us, "Goddammit, you're ruining my movie! You guys better stop joking around and get scared, because if that train doesn't kill you, I will!"

Jerry and I instantly burst into tears, because Rob never raised his voice at us. My mom tells me that right after Rob saw us start to cry, he turned to the first AD and quietly said, "Roll camera."

We raced down the tracks, tears streaming down our faces, and right past the camera into Rob's arms where he hugged us and thanked us for a great take."

It's a film that should be seen by everyone! It never fails to have me in both laughter and tears. Perfect movie!

What Gordy types at the end says it all -

I don't really like this film it just annoyed me because at the start when he is in the car with the paper about the guy getting shot i knew that was someone he knew and so it sort of gave away the ending would have been better without that saying that though i liked the leeches part:D

A very good movie. It reminRAB me of my youth going on adventures, bonding with frienRAB and being somewhat rebellious. :D

Even my 5 year old daughter loves it.

"Lardass!, lardass!, lardass!"

"I don't shut up. I grow up. And when I look at you, I throw up"
- "And then your mom goes around the corner and she licks it up" :p

Brilliant film, one of my favourites.

A great mixture of humour and emotion, nice, nostalgic soundtrack, sharp script and really good performances from the boys.

My favourite film of all time, I remember it being released on VHS at my local video store and must have rented it a dozen times.

Still no sign of it being released on Blu-Ray, I will be very disappointed if doesn't happen!
