Stalin 'blocked' two Soviet plans to kill Hitler

Let's not forget that Rommel requested to move up to 5 SS Panzer divisions to Normandy a few days before the landing. Hitler denied him, and when the invasion began, it took several days to relay orders from Hitler in Bertschesgaden to Rommel in France, armor was late and Allied tanks were already in the hedgerows of France

You may be right, thejacko5... you may be right.

The 1943 assassination attempt may have been a bad idea. But I think it would have been worth it for Stalin to have had Hitler and his inner circle killed in July 1944 when France was being taken by the Allies. This would have disrupted Germany's leadership for a few days and allowed for the Allies to advance quicker into Germany. A move like that could have allowed for the war to end a year faster and could have saved several million lives.

If Operation Valkyrie had succeeded, as it took place around the same time (July 1944), then that could have been the outcome.

Yea...Stalin was really the odd man out between FDR and Church. I don't doubt him for not trusting them...considering neither of them liked or trusted him.
