HEEE! Wendy is so awesome. I love her when she shrugs at something funny or scandalous. :D Ahhh, Wendys must have a Billy! :D That is too cool!

I'm a girl but character wise, I'm SOOOOOOOO Kevin!

You know with her reaction to the kiss, she was definitely wanting herself some Kirby...bad!

And I'm sure there's at least one of the characters we can each relate to. For me, it's Wendy...right down to having my own Billy I totally crushed on, back in the day.

I love this movie! Andrew McCarthy was so adorable in this. Kevin's my favorite. Love him still. :in_love:

He was the Adam Brody or the Anton Yelchin of his generation. And then some.

Yeah, why don't you like it, I'm curious too.

I loved when Billy and Wendy slept together.

There's moments where he just breaks my heart when he's with her...one that always stands out to me is, after he insults her while they're starting to makeout in her living room, after she offers him his rent money, he looks at it, but doesn't take it. I adored how he couldn't take her money. That just showed, he genuinely respected her, probably more than he had any other woman.

Wow, that's a good deal, only 7 bucks, lol.

Ohhhh, that's right. Billy is the ultimate pretty boy you love all your life. Hehe. He was adorable with Wendy.

I bought the DVD years ago for like 7 bucks. I was so happy it was cheap.

You're so right. It has that vibe, that charming honesty about these people's lives and how each represents one of us. I love that.

Right. I hope it works but it's such an 80's baby, it's going to be totally different now, even if the hangout is still called St. Elmo's.

I think this is the only coming-of-age movie that equals any of the John Hughes ones. In fact, I always thought this was one of his. It's has such a Hughes' feel to it, since it captures all the emotions so brilliantly.

No, no! Tell us why! It's always cool to have a different opinion (in my case at least) because I can have other POVs while watching the movie.

Okay...*feels guilty*...I really hated this film. :(

Since this didn't say "appreciation" I thought you might want to know but I won't insult you by bashing the film. Just know that these movies were my exact generation and it was really disappointing that I didn't like it.

Oh yeah, thats right he was. Its been awhile since i've seen it, like years i mean! I need to go rent it, i've forgotten the details, even how dated it looks i have forgotten. It didn't seem dated when it came out lol.

i heard the theme song on the 80's radio station the other day.

Indeed! I was checking out the trivia at IMBD at it said something like, "Mare Winningham played a virgin in St. Elmo's while being pregnant".

Quickly I though about the love scene between her and Robe Lowe, I remembered it looking odd and it probably was because she was pregnant their 'positions' had to be kept off her belly. Which is kinda cool! :goof:

I'm always on & off with that 'ship! I just think how much of a jerk Billy can be and Wendy deserves way better... But then she loves him so much. I  the couple when he's nice to her. Ahhhh..

UM excellent point! I've listened to the commentary once but it was quite late so I wasn't able to absorb all Shumacher was saying but yeah, that was one of his strongest points.

I was born in '83 so I don't really consider myself an 80's person because I remember so little of it, naturally. Yet this movie feels like I imagine the 80's felt and that's amazing. My aunt, my brother and sister always talk about the 80's and especially my aunt is still in love with the music, the whole "magic" of the decade.

I never listen to them saying anything bad about the decade but this movie captures the bad times in such a light that you can almost get as frustrated as the characters. When Wendy is at work telling a woman that she can have an education or get a nice job then the camera focuses on the woman with like 4 kids and she replies, "just give me my check". That's a nice scene and I feel Wendy's pain.

I could go on and on because I love this movie. I know it's not Oscar stuff but it contains tons of my all time favorite lines.

I was hoping this would be one Hollywood would just leave alone. :( I mean, this movie was just so perfect. Why ruin it? :/

They were always my favorite love story in this movie. I think so many could relate to Wendy, Billy was just 'that' guy, you couldn't help but be crazy in love with, and at the end of the day, just hope he would send a (meaningful) glance your way. I loved how sweet and genuine he was with her.

Yeah, that's it, Dale. Seriously, that's just one of those BGL moments, where your heart just beats so loudly for the trimuph of the geek! :D
