So I have a 2000 Pontiac Montana. About a week ago I woke up to take the kids to school and there was a horrible squeaking noise coming from the engine. I thought it was just the belt since it was so cold out. Well in the last week my husband has changed the water pump 2 times. Changed the tensor pulley, and put on a new serpentine belt. The squeaking noise stops for about a minute then starts all over again. When he sprays WD-40 on the belt it stops for a little bit but after a while it starts all over again. We don't want to keep spending money for parts and it not taking care of the problem. Any help and/or suggestions would be great.
Excuse me ....... ask my husband about the WD40 and he said he was not spraying on belt but on the pulleys. He used the belt stuff that everyone is talking about and that didn't work. Thinking it might be from the AC Compressor since it was making some noise when it was turned off but as soon as you turned the AC on it stopped and there were metal shavings on the compressor.
