PROBLEM WITH MY 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT 4.0L
2 WHEEL DRIVE ABOUT 72K MILES
AS I WAS LEAVING FOR WORK TONIGHT, I STARTED UP MY JEEP AND IT STARTED MAKING A SPUTTERING NOISE.
I DROVE DOWN THE STREET A LITTLE WAYS AND IT WAS BUCKING AND HESITATING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STARTED FLASHING. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES.
I STARTED THE ENGINE AND IT DROVE FINE, THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I GOT ON THE HIGHWAY AND GOT UP TO ABOUT 85 WITH NO PROBLEMS.
WHEN I GOT HOME I STAYED THERE FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES, AND THEN I WENT OUT TO THE STORE, INITIALLY IT DROVE FINE, PUT ON THE WAY BACK IT STARTED AGAIN.
IT SPUTTERS AND HESITATES, WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS IT FALLS ON ITS FACE FOR A SECOND AND THEN IT TAKES OFF.
IT I FLOOR IT , IT WILL SPUTTER AND THEN ITS FINE?
ANY IDEAS?
ITS NOT THE PROBLEM WITH THE GAS VAPORIZING ON HOT DAYS, I KNOW WHEN THAT HAPPENS, THIS IS SOME THING ELSE.
I CHANGE THE OIL REGULARLY, LAST TIME I USED SYNTHETIC OIL AND A K&N OIL FILTER THAT WAS ABOUT 2500 MILES AGO.
I HAVE A K&N PERFORMANCE AIR FILTER AS WELL.
I CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS ABOUT 500 MILES AGO, I USED E3 PLUGS.
I WAS THINKING IT COULD BE A BAD SENSOR.
WHICH SENSOR WOULD CAUSE IT TO SPUTTER, HESITATE AND SEEM LIKE IT IS ABOUT TO STALL?
