Sprocket time

Ok, stock busa... bolt on pipes.. beyond that nothing else done to it.. today I had a new sprocket with one less tooth in it. I am wondering what to expect now..

Anyone?

Well rode it home.. a bit more pick up but nothing outstanding. Haven't had a chance to see what I've lost on top end speed but was told it would not be very much.. not bad though

Right...one down in the front is no big deal..but you will have an extra snap when you push it. See I'm assuming you did the one down in the front. Instead of toppingout at 186...you will still only go 186. Really due to the Busa having a speed ...whatever eliminator. Unless you push or have pushed that Busa you won't know.

It's called a rev. limiter. Most modern bikes have one.

If you hit the limiter at 186 before, with one less tooth on the front, you will hit it at a slightly lower speed now.

More specific...I know about the rev limiter. Here's the interesting part. My Gixxer revs up limit at 14.5 or 14 I forget..but the upper limit was 174mph. It wasn't the rev limiter sincer it was the upper speed. Same with the Busa...he will top off at 186 before his red line. For me I called it the speed limiter.

Well I am usually not hanging out on the right end of the speedometer allot so i don't know what its limited me down to as of yet. Have to take it to the track to see exactly where I've lost.
One tooth should not have done too much I would not think and if I had needed the top end speed back I figure I could always get a PC and a new map/dyno for it but right now its not a major concern really.
I am happy with the extra bit of take off speed so I may just leave it be for now.

I have so much to learn about this bike.. lol

Some good insight there Jammer.. appreciate your thoughts on this :D
