No. Modern mountain bike hubs have cassette freewheels, and there is no threading to accept the singlespeed freewheel. You can purchase singlespeed conversion kits that include spacers and chain tensioner IF you really want to go singlespeed. You still end up with a dished wheel that's not quite as stout as a similar quality singlespeed wheel with no dish.
