Sprint or Verizon ?

This may be a durab question but I am new to this and am wondering if there is any advantage to getting a sprint mogul vs a verizon mogul when it comes to flashing the phone? I have found some for sale and sprint's are much pricier than verizon, anyone know why? From what I read it seems you can get the same outcome, mms, web, gps etc on both, is that correct? :befuddled

If it was up to me, I'd pick up the one on the cheap. I have flashed Sprint's, Alltel's and most recently Verizon's 6900. The outcome was basically the same each time. I say basically, because I have used different ROMs on all the phones that have come into the shop for flashing. In other worRAB, I have been experimenting for about 6 months with my own as well as customer's 6900s. The end result is entirely independent of the original carrier for the most part. The Alltel and the Verizon will be a little easier if you want Cricket MMS and WAP.

I highly recommend that you read before you proceed! I wish I could give you some good reference material but, unfortunately, as brilliant as the pioneers are, their tutorial-writing ability sometimes leaves a little to be desired. I probably read for 3 months before I finally felt comfortable. Of course, I have other things going on all the time as well.

As always, any other merabers in this great place are free to correct me if I'm wrong. I'm always down for some good old constructive criticism.

honestly the only difference really is in the outside appearance i have flashed from the ppc6700 on alltell to the ppc6900 on verizon sprint and they all are basically the same my wife has a sprint mogul but once u flash a custom rom to it all features are ur own and there is no ownership to a carrier besides the logos on the case just make sure u unlock the phone properly first and u should be just fine i recommend BuildOS for customs and if u dont wanna create ur own use to0's rom its good as well just enjoy the fone

I personally like the Verizon model better than Sprint's. However, my experience has been the opposite: It's impossible for me to find the Verizon xv6800 and it's always pricier than the Sprint. At least 'round these parts.....

Thanks to all for the info! So, I am pretty excited cuz I found me a good deal on a new Sprint Mogul and now im just waiting to get it. I will be flashing it to Cricket so to get prepared i've been doing a lot of reading on here, at ppcgeeks, xda-dev etc. I feel like I have a pretty good idea on how to unlock, flash ROM's and such but i must say I still feel somewhat nervous.

As a start, I will be verifying rom/radio versions currently installed to make sure i have a gps enabled radio. If not, I will be installing the latest offical sprint rom. Then run getspc and proceed with unlocking the phone. Am i on the right track here?

I did also want to ask, I will porting my nuraber to cricket, anything special I need to take into account? Thanks in advance
