We received our first Blackberries about ten days ago. When they arrived we discharged them then I charged them fully and my hubby's seems to hold a charge okay as long as he's not using it extensively to surf the net while at work (he charges it every night regardless of how much charge it has left anyway) but mine is gradually having less and less charge. If I don't do anything with it other than read messages, email, and the occasional call (I am not avid at any of those, my helio ocean held a charge for 2-3 days and my helio heat for 4 or so) I can get it to last almost 24 hours, but even just having an alarm go off will take two bars off the charge. I normally use the wall charger and always charge the phone while it's on (and it charges up within 2-3 hours and then the batt icon switches to the normal 5 bar icon) but the other day I was transferring some files from it and left it plugged into the computer when I was done. Pretty soon I heard it making the disconnect/connect chime almost simultaneously, a while later I heard it do that again so I went and closed the windows, switched it to a different usb port just in case, made sure it was plugged in securely and left it over night. When I got up there were three more "what do you want to do with this device" windows up, indicating it had disconnected at least three times while I was sleeping and it said it was fully charged. I don't know if it does this while it's on the wall charger, I haven't seen it do it and truth be told, I'm not interested in watching it for hours to catch it.
Is the product defective? Have I done something to the battery that shortened it's life? Was it disconnecting from the puter when it was finished charging? I wouldn't think so because it was reconnecting immediately. I've tried to make sure that all the various apps and programs are closed rather than just navigating away from them but I'm not exactly sure of what I'm doing so is there a free way to tell if something I've forgotten or didn't know about is draining the battery? Do you have any other suggestions?
We love the phones but this is frustrating!
