Hi all.

A friend of mine gave me his old Sprint A900 Samsung cellophone for my kid. My kid wants to use Cricket since I won't pay for his phone (he is 18). He gave me the code for the phone, he used CMDA Workshiop to do a factory restore and give me the MSL code.

I followed the instructions from here: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1367857

I did not do Step 1 since I did not have UniCDMA.

In Step 2 I then wrote the SPC code of 6 zeros to the phone and it said Phone Unlocked.

In Step 3 I then wrote the 1041 PRL code to the phone. I did not write the code to NAV2, I was not sure if the phone needed that to be done (is that part of the problem that I'm having?)

Step 4 is the confusing one. I didn't do anything from Step 4 because it didn't make sense to me.

In the end, my son brought the phone to Cricket and they turned it on and he gets voice no problem (incoming and outgoing) and he can RECEIVE text messages but he cannot SEND text messages.

When he tries to send them, they just sit in the outbox saying something about "cannot connect to network, will try again later".

This is on a brand new Cricket account, not an existing one if that matters.

Any help? The kid wants to text more than anything else.

You know just pm me the # nuraber and ill take care of it you. just because you actually programmed the phone yourself and put effort into it

Just for future reference, it all worked. The account was reset and my kid took the battery out for a minute and put it back in, made a test call, and he now can text messages in and out both!

He is happy as I am now. Free phone, cheap cricket service, how can you go wrong?

Well I guess its a bit disappointing that you can't MMS but that isn't the end of the world.

Now I wonder if we can change the scheme of the phone to get rid of some of the sprint branding?
