I am out in wild west BC and wanted to watch Hockeycentral and then the Pre Season game for Toronto and Buffalo.

I switch to channel 405 (SNETO) and I get some sound and then:

"YOUR SMART CARD DOES NOT CURRENTLY HAVE AUTHORIZATION TO VIEW OR PURCHASE THIS PROGRAM"... BLAH BLAH BLAH.

WTF?

All my other Sports Net channels work fine.

It should be a crime punishable by death in Canada for any TV service provider to block hockey games.

I have subscribed as well to Center ICE, all sports channels and have full HD programming.. but not getting it even on the HD channel.

grrr..

time to phone the lackies.

I wish they would black out leaf games here in Hamilton. Our average IQ would go up 30 points.

the game is for the leaf region only unless you get centre ice ,don`t blame sportsnet its a league rule.

Sportsnet doesn't have national rights to hockey. They only have regional so all games outside your region will be blacked out.

It's on HD 866 and SD 431 if you are outside the region and have Centre Ice.

That's a shame.. so the NHL basically FORCES you to buy Center ICE.

what a rip..

Instantly doubling the average IQ to 60!
Sorry, just kidding
The Leafs are going all the way this year, they are playing great!
Hahahaha, yea, I know, its the 1st exhibition game
I'm not a big fan of the blackouts either, but its not effecting me this time...

Yep, as long as Bell has your address is outside of the Leafs region, you'll miss the games on Sportsnet and Leafs TV but you'll still get a humongous amount of games on CBC and TSN all in HD. I always like it when I hear a Leafs fans sound so hard done by.http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

I also live outside my Flames region so I order Centre Ice. It's not that bad for me as I get all the PPVs for free and a few more Flames HD games from the south and a couple more Flames games that Canadian networks don't pick up. All in all I'll get all 82 Flames games this season.

I hate the Laughs.. I just wanted a warm up before I watched some really hockey when the Canucks game on.

In any case.. I got it figured out.

Try Again.

TSN paid EXCLUSIVE rights to show NATIONAL games from the NHL. You want sportsnet to show games nationally when TSN paid for it and has a contract??????????????????????????

With CBC, Sportsnet(regional),TSN (having more games then ever before plus for the 1st ever every game will feature atleast 1 Canadian team), and lets not forget TSN 2, NHL Network, and NBC after Janurary there are a TON of free games on. And lets not forget WGN who is back with the NHL airing hawks NATIONWIDE(USA/Canada). That's a LOT of free games. Remember in 80's/90's how many games were free?

Get your facts straight before you think the NHL is forcing anyone to buy CI.

it will probobly be the only game they win this year LOL

what do you have to hope for when the GM of the team says they suck LOL

I'm not so sure about that. There are two WGN stations, the local channel 9 broadcast station in Chicago, and the WGN Superstation which is national. WGN Superstation will NOT have any Blackhawks games because of national broadcast rights, but the local channel 9 station will. Not sure what station we get with Bell right now, but after doing a fair amount of reading online I will believe it once I see the first Blackhawks game here not blacked out.

Anyone who has WGN in Canada could tell us if they have seen Cubs and Bulls games. I expect if those are shown in Canada, 'Hawks games will be shown as well. We'll know for sure on Oct 11.

Bell carries WGN9 Chicago. As a general rule, if you get any CW primetime programming, you get WGN9. I don't think any providers carry WGN America anymore.

Ringmaster is right, TSN paid huge amounts of money to secure national rights telecast.
