Sports this year(7th grade)?

so im joining sports this year (7th grade).since i have to pick 2 sports im thinking of joining volleyball or basketball.(track & field is automatically one of the 2 sports).im not fat.but im not thin either.i want to get healthier for all the training and stuff they do in sports.i heard from some 8th graders that they push you really hard.i suck at running long distance but im pretty good at sprinting. my Gym coach last year told me that some students loose 15-10 pounds in volleyball and basketball.and that kinda freaks me out cuz i mean how hard do they push you 15 pounds is alot! but im up to give it my all.i need help on training my physical abilities.so im asking yah to give me some ideas to train for sports and get healthier.please and thank you
