sports authority vs. bike shop?

I've heard that sports authority sells good bike shops. I'm looking for a good hybrid bike but I don't have 400 + dollars to spend on one. I really don't even have 350. I was looking to spend 260 at most. How are the bikes at sports authority. I need something of quality that is reliable that I can travel with.
 
Sports authority is NO authority on bicycles. You get what you pay for and I bet they dont even have anyone all that knowledgeable in their so called cycling dept. If you buy one from them then you will soon know why you always buy from a shop that sells ONLY bicycles and not golf balls too (I bet they have excellent golf balls though) Save your money, if you can so that you get something better rather than throw money at a potential "problem bike" and if you dont heed this warning then you too will be among all of us who started somewhere and ended up with junk and after a while you too will be answering questions just like yours with answers just like this one!
