Yes indeed there was a thread called "Enough Compression Already". It was extremely popular with the technically oriented BEV frequenters of this site but it was shut down by the moderator. As far as I know no explanation was ever given for doing so.
 
I completely agree with your statement reidw. It was a great thread, with lots of input from lots of knowledgeable people. The reason Hugh sited for closing the thread was due to complaints from "others"( I would love to know who) that stated it was going off topic?. Which I don't believe for one minute..... and even if it was, where were the warnings or cautions that are given out first, prior to finally closing the thread.... like it is done so many other threads!

Honestly, I don't believe this for a minute, perhaps he is just protecting his advertisers or sponsors from bad press so to speak.

It just comes across as a really illegitimate way of losing down the thread.

I personally would love to see that thread re-instated.

Rogers has stated it will start the same compression. Maybe start a HD compression thread in the providers section

That thread had 542 posts. I think any fool would have a hard time believing we were shutting down a 50 page thread because we didn't like it. Do you really think we would let it go 50 pages if we had a problem with it?


FWIW, I won't delete reidw PaulO's post because then they'll whine and complain and say I am a Nazi sympathizer and so on but they have broken the rules of the forum and will be issued infractions
