Spironolactone users - and side effects

Hi all,

I could really, really use some feedback from those who have used or are using Spiro. My concern is about side effects --- specifically lowered sex drive (which is listed as a side effect and I'm pretty sure I'm experiencing....) and fatigue/tiredness (not listed as a side effect but has coincided with taking the drug).
I am 3 yrs post Accutane and using this to try to control breakouts that are starting again. When I looked up Spiro I was surprised to see its many uses and potential side effects. But I've also heard good things.
I'm wondering if these go away or if they can be managed with a different dose (I am on 50/day). As far as sexual side effects, is it possible to skip days taking the drug when you know you'll need more sexual energy? How long does it stay in your system?
 
I take 100mg of Spiro a day. I have no side effects. I get testosterone & Estrogen injections & my Dr. gives me that for something to do with the testosterone. I know someone who has taken it for 15 yrs & has no side effects with it. Why don't you call the pharmacist & ask them.

I was on Spironolactone for almost over a year and it definately lowered my sex drive. I am now off Spiro as I am trying to get my libido back!
 
hi I have been on spro or 7 months and have no problems. My skin was cystic and now it is clear. Do you drink alcohol while on Spiro?
