"Spiritually speaking", do you think vegetarians overreact in their defense when

asked why they don't eat meat? Compared to meat-eating people, they seem to be pissy. Well, I haven't encountered these strange people in real life but here, they seem to be bearing their fangs when asked about their diet.
Is their meat-deprivation the source of their irritation?
 
I know quite a few vegetarians, but none of them made their choice for ethical reasons.

People get obsessive about all sorts of things. PETA are nasty bigots, but no more so than (I'd better not name the denomination).
 
It is a challenge to be a vegetarian. People talk trash about it. Or, just ignore it, and serve meat anyway. There is no scientific evidence to link meat-deprivation to irritation. LOL!
 
I am not sure... I am a vegan, however i do not know any other vegans or vegetarians... As for me i am FAR from pissy... But from the online community, i guess i can see how you can get that impression... Many online do seem a bit.... particular...
 
Well I must say their choice is somewhat healthier.
On the other hand being 100% "bacon-free" would
make anyone somewhat "itchy" so don't rub it in.
Bear with them (you get the bacon remember?)

When it's for religious reasons they tend to be overbearing, annoying and a nuisance about it. They are terrified that they will go to Hell, or be reincarnated as a horrible animal or something, if they eat meat.
 
LOL, well its great to see you are so open minded about people different from you.

I am vegetarian for certain periods (my work makes it difficult to be a full time vegetarian) and many of my friends are full time vegetarians for a very long period. I have not heard that anyone ever defended vegetarianism. There is no need to defend it.

We can however provide reasons why we do not eat meat, and you will find people who are vegetarians because that's what they learnt to eat as children, some who do it for health reasons, some who do it for spiritual reasons and even some who just do it because they do not like meat.

I hope that was not to defensive for you.
