my mom had an MRI with a diagnosis of spinal stenosis.
It started with sciatica a few weeks ago and now she's having trouble with her bathroom habits. She's going more frequently and is worried. She is supposed to see a chiropractor next week. Has anyone had this and has it improved?

I have had spinal stenosis of the cervical spine several years ago which required surgery. I have had surgery for other spine problems as well. Every time I turned around another problem appeared. I now have spinal stenosis in the cervical and lurabar areas.
As to the neck area I get bad pain radiating out to the shoulders. Both sides bother me The left side may be a little worse then the right. As to the stenosis in the lurabar area i have left leg problems. Nurabness from the Knee down to the foot area. Nurabness is there 100% of the time.
In my case with all the surgeries I have had more surgery is a problem. Personally I would try physical therapy which includes water therapy. In my case not much has really worked.
Hope things work out for you.

thank you both, I'll mention the water therapy to her. I'm sorry to hear that nothing has really helped for you.

her doctor said in her case it's caused by osteo-arthritis. She's 79
and also some bulging discs. I should have clarified, it's in her lower back/lurabar area
she's seeing a chiro that the doctor recommended, and he does a lot of different types of therapy, which might include acupuncture. I'm not sure.
