Spielberg "Cracks Story" For Indiana Jones 5

Damn I was just about to post that from Empire. I didnt think Indy 4 was that bad as I did enjoy it. I just hope they get a decent script for Indy 5!

I'm in the same boat. Crystal skull had its flaws (gophers, monkeys and an obvious CGI alien), but for the most part, I really enjoyed it. I'm up for a fifth (and final one).

While I may have slated the film that is only the film post jungle chase scene. I actually really enjoyed it up untill that point ( minor niggles apart, CGI gophers, Scorpions etc), I think i'm one of the few who actually liked the fridge scene as well. I thought the whole bike chase scene was classic Indy.

I just hope when we get the fith film it's more Spielberg's "trying to drag it back to the way they were" rather than furrymans "push it to a whole different place" version.

Oh and please use real bugs.

Say what you like about Lucas, but he can take a hint from fans - as demonstrated by the writing out of Binks after Phantom Menace, and the general marked improvements with Sith. That gives me hope that they can build on the strengths of Crystal Skull, and excorcise the crap elements.

Actually, it did.

It was shown to Steven Speilberg, Francis Ford Coppola, and Martin Scorsese (who loved it!).

Yousa talkin' to mesa?

That's just your opinion tho. I certainly didn't think it was shit. I enjoyed it. And my point may have been cliched, but it's still valid. That's the problem when there's a gap of 15 or 20 years or so between a classic franchise and it's new installment, people's expectations go through the roof. I expected it to be bland and was pleasantly surprised how good it was.

Yeah I know it's down to opinions but I just find that excuse is used a lot to justify rubbish films. I was being a little over the top in that post but i'm of the opinion that I expect just that little more from an Indy film than I would from say National Treasure or The Mummy, while I enjoy those films I would really like my Indy to be a notch above and I think the second half off Crystal Skull is on that level rather than the rest of the Indiana Jones movies.

Yes, fair enough but come on, you still can't excuse what we got on the screen. The majority can't be wrong. The film was very underwhelming. A greaser who also turns out to be an amazing sword fighter, a cartoon alien at the end, cartoon scorpions, cartoon gophers, marion turned into a grinning idiot, hardly any Indy.....the list is endless.
I agree that it couldn't possibly live up to expectations but it could have still been a good film. I respect that you like it though.

Also, here's hoping they've learnt there lesson for the 5th one.

I absolutely loved Kingdom of the Crystal Skull like a giddy kid, so I'm really up for a return.

Lots of negative opinions on the net, but then the net hates everything. It might not have been the good old days of Indy vs the Nazis, but for a fun romp really well made the last Indy hit the spot for me. Kinda fantastic to see Harrison still so capable. Gives me hope for my old age! :D

indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystall skull was a curious film. it starts off pretty good, and i even didn't mind the nuclear bomb and fridge scene. the whole 50's test town was pretty cool.

lucas neeRAB to be kept away, because he brings the negative things to these films, over use of cgi, clunky and clumsy dialogue, the childish scenes, and the whole "let's not forget the merchandising steven" culture.

i knew we were in lucas territory when jim broadbent opened his mouth and gave us the clumsy expositional line "we can't have that kind of scandal, not in this charged climate" reminded of jimmy smitts in attack of the clones "do you really think that is a wise decision in these stressful times?"

people don't talk like that george!

lastly, they could do worse than to exlpore the "fate of atlantis" story. just my opinion.

I'd only go and watch Indy 5 if they kill of Shia's character. Argh he's annoying. And to think I actually fancied him in Disturbia. :o
