Spiderman 4

I dont think there is much chance of us seeing Spiderman 4 in the cinema for a while as it will be at least 4 or 5 years before it is released. I cant see them rushing it out after the negative response to Spiderman 3!

Plus, Ratner was handed the script. He had no control over that, so just had to make a 1) happen, and 2) look like Singers' films. Flawed as the film was, I think he did a fine job of both.

I thought it was good too, just a lot of storylines and randomness (Peter dancing in the street anyone?) that wasn't needed. One villain did wonders for the first 2, 3 was overkill, they didn't all get a chance to shine.

The black suit era was always down to an alien symbiote, even in the comic books. Perhaps in some of the other spiderman interpretations such as 'ultimate spiderman' it was down to the spider DNA taking over, but the films are based on the general 'amazing spiderman' universe in which I believe it came back clinging to Spidey after he fought a war in a parallel universe etc...

Hence how venom is created when the symbiote parts with peter. Its been shown in different ways in different media. Like in the 1980s cartoon, John Jameson's space rocket brought it back to earth, so the movie version wasn't too far from some of the other interpretations

There's too much going on in the film. I watched it on DVD shortly after Christmas (after seeing it in cinemas back when) and just couldn't keep up!

One thing I'm really disappointed about is the overuse of romance plots. Why, again, did we have to have more of Peter and MJ's romance problems? Instead of the romance plots we could have dedicated more time to Venom or Sandman.

The movie was disappointing. I don't find it horrible, just not well done. The whole thing seems rushed and at the same time, there's so much that wasn't touched on enough.

I do want to see a Spidey 4 though. It would be weird watching a Spidey movie with a different cast, if they have to recast it, but it's a good franchise and I think it can still be salvaged for a couple of more films.

The Sandman part of the flick worked well.

The trouble was Venom.

The character blew chunks on the comic book page so no wonder it failed so miserably on screen.

Raimi should ignore the fanboys & revert to kicking it old skool with Spidey 4.
