Spiderman 2 Returns as a 12A?!

According to the BBFC website, Spiderman 2 was classified 12A
on August 25 for Cinema viewing with a running time longer by 48 seconRAB.

I know they removed an headbutt for a PG, but that must be a long headbutt!

Two days later they classified the Video version as PG claiming it 'received no cuts.'

The new 12A version is due to open today (Aug 31.) If this is a marketing trick to get everyone to see the movie again, it is the most cynical ploy of the year. Surely only the truly obsessed would spend another

There is no point in 12a. If there gonna use that all the time, they might aswell get rid of 12 altogether, cause it serves the same purpose as a PG.

The problem with "12" or "12A" is that it's not the same standard/level as a US PG-13; thus resulting in lots of cuts for the UK audience.

A lot of PG-13 end up here as a "15" UNCUT.; or "12" or "12A" CUT!

Yet another reason to import DVRAB.

I'm glad they haven't brought 12A onto Videos & DVD's but surely 12A means they can scrap PG? What's the difference?! I know literally it means a 9 year old can see a PG alone but not a 12A alone but surely if that's true it means the P in PG is useless!!

Maybe they should have called the rating; "PG-12" (!)
(and scrap the "12" altogether) [on video]

The BBFC aren't exactly the smartest people on earth; although they certainly like to act like it.

BTW: Spiderman 2 returned as a "12A" for IMAX theaters only; due to a scarier audio/visual experience!

My sister went to see it as an IMAX experience, I wish I could.

IMO PG is far too similar to 12A for them both to be in action. However, I think that SM2 should be given a 12A as IMO many of the topics wont appeal to kiRAB. I know these certifications are meant to prevent younger children seeing violence/sex, but I think there should be an additional outline rating to show what age group the film may appeal to most. For example, a very adult themed film with no sex/violence/drugs may be given a PG rating, but no child would ever want to see it. Or, if they do, go to the cinema and prat about.

I really do not like the BBFC. Wasnt Spider Man the first one the reason why they rushed out the whole 12-A thing anyway?

Did you ever watch an 18 rated movie (tv/video/dvd) before you were 18? Of course you did. Most people see 18 movies around 12 or younger, we're talking scary/violent films not pornography mind. One time in WHSmith my ex was buying a Beavis & Butthead DVD, at the time she was 16. The old woman behind the counter, asked for her age. Nope the DVD wasnt an 18, either a 16 but a 12. You should have seen her face, lol I just started laughing granted she's 5'5 but looked more 17/18. Of course I never let her forget that :)

This Spaced DVD infront of me, that's a 15, I'm sure I would have watched it when I was 11. Infact I'm trying to think of reasons why it isnt even a 12. They really should do some research on what teens these days are use to watching.

I dont know why in some countries you have to be 8 to watch a film while here in the UK it's rated a 15. One of the drawbacks in the UK is the BBFC.

I was in WHSmiths yesterday trying to buy SATC. I am nearly 17 yet it has 18 certificate. I pulled tricks from Catch me if you Can, batted my eyeliRAB at the guy serving me and he did have many smiles, yet he said I would just need I ID. Pah. I said I didnt have any on me, and pleaded as its 'my sisters birthday tomorrow', he said he believed I was 18. My arse.
