Someone should email a link to this thread (and the original group buy thread) to SpeedyMoto so they are aware of the great reputation they are fostering.

Please one customer and they tell 3 people. Piss off one customer and they tell 30,000 people.

Must be a machining error then mine were ok in this regard.

You kidding me - these are going back as they come off , scratches and all - I don't expect that speedymoto will care since they need these back to see the problem and fix the design and finish issues. There reputation is on the line not mine.

Hey guys,

I just returned to the shop after driving all night from the Indy GP and I just got off the phone with Christian, the owner of SpeedyMoto.

He was definitely surprised to hear this sort of feedback, as they have always prided themselves on having great quality control and designing, creating, and selling some of the best parts around.

With that, he is taking this very seriously, and said he will begin looking into any possible problems right away to find out what exactly is going on.

I will let you all know what we find out, when we find it out, and we will go from there.

Ok everybody,

Christian at SpeedyMoto just got back to me with all the answers we should need:

1. The healguards and pegs are in fact anodized, and as pictured they are anodized in a flatter black then the main body of the rearsets.

2. The pegs have to be anodized before the springs can be installed, and due to the strength of these springs and the way in which they have to be installed, they sometimes put a slight mark in the peg surface. This issue will be corrected for future sets.

3. They had an issue with cracks in the C linkage during the machining process, and have corrected it. They thought they replaced all of the cracked linkages with the new parts before shipping them out, but a few must have slipped past in their rush to fill these orders.

4. Linkage can touch the bodywork on some bikes if the rearsets are in the lowest adjustment and proper spacers are not used (for instance, the 1198 has a different fairing bracket). To be fair, virtually all rearsets for the 1098/1198 have some limit to the adjustability of the linkages/levers due to clearance issues, so that if they are set past a certain point they will contact the bodywork, this includes: the attack performance, gilles, sato's, rizoma's, etc...

5. Christian and all of SpeedyMoto are devoted to satisfying their customers and has asked that if you have a problem with these rearsets (say - need a new C linkage), to contact them immediately at 503-445-4368 so that they may get these out to you asap.

Thank you,
- Randy

I just got off the phone with SpeedyMoto for the 2nd time today where Christian confirmed to me the following:

The pegs are anodized before the springs can be inserted, which due to the strength of the springs can put the small mark in the finish as some of you have experienced.

I'll inspect mine this weekend when I get back, but if the linkage is broke or damaged, or if paint comes off as easily as you guys have stated I'm sending mine back as well...

UPDATE:
OK.. finally home. As far as rearsets go, my C linkage is fine -- no cracks; however, when I scratch pegs and heel guards with my fingernail, it does leave a mark, but as soon as I wipe it, the marks are gone and the paint is still there (not sure if the marks would be permanent once I ride with boots on). I'm still debating if I should attempt to put these on given all the problems some of you have experienced.... I just might give it a shot tomorrow.

These speedymoto rear sets suck!! The brake adapter does not have slots large enough to accommodate the rubber o-rings and when tightened to spec the brake adapter is locked in place. To make the brake usable I had to loosen the pivot bolt and now every time i use the rear brake that bolt backs out. When I got back today from a ride it was only on by two threads. This is crap!! Had to wait forever, damn coating on the pegs is junk, cracked rods, rods hitting the body work, and when the foot pegs fold up they dont go back down all the way unless I push them down. Seems all those scrapes and grinding was for not since the spring is on the weak side. I am not HAPPY......Do yourself a favor, DO NOT BUY OR RECOMMEND TO ANY FRIENDS.

I had all the exact same issues. To be honest the whole brake adapter was my biggest concern because as you said, we can't torque it to spec. By the time it was usable it was very loose. I never rode the bike because the linkages hit the fairings, but I'm glad I didn't. What a bunch of garbage. They need to take these back to the drawing boards.
