true that

every mod I have done myself on my bike...and I have done a shit load of mods..except the Termi ECU as I wanted it to be covered by warranty

its more satisfying when you do the work yourself

and I have no real mechanic knowledge...I just think of it as lego only a little larger

I know what you guys are saying.. I customized my cruiser (electrical, replaced LEDs in the speedometer, new pipes, front end which is about to be raked this winter and some other stuff) so I'm familiar with bike mods.

The problem with Ducati is that I don't know if any of these mods would/could void my warranty (I don't see how, but anything is possible). I did see the instructions (PDF version) for the rearsets and looking at the stock set, it doesn't look too complicated, but then again, I don't want to mess it up...

PAZZO levers -- I'm too lazy removing cables..

Clutch cover -- seems straight forward, but I have never removed one and according to the manual, oil has to be replaced... not a big deal, just wondering if I really have to drain it?

Thanks!

draining the oil will need to be done since the 848 has a wet clutch. If you dont drain it and remove the cover oil will get everywhere and make a nice mess. Now if you have a super clean drain pan to use, you can just put the oil right back in. Just be very careful to keep any dirt or debris out of the oil. as soon as the oil is drained cover the top of the drain pan with plastic wrap to keep dirt and dust from falling in.

On the other hand if the oil has 2000+ miles, it would not hurt to just put new back in or wait to replace the cover until the next oil change. For me AMS oil is 10.50+ a qrt and I will make sure I get full use out of it before I put new in.

+1

The bike has 3100 miles and since it was originally purchased in August of last year, it means it due for it's first year service (7500mi/12mth) in 2 months... I could potentially wait to change the cover when I bring it for the service.

Thanks for the input! I might do some mods on it next weekend :-)

+1!

Damn! You are right! I had to remove all the cables off my cruiser when I was putting new levers and I didn't feel like messing around with that on the Duc (mainly cuz I'm too lazy to remove the front fairing); however, it took me less than 10min to swap the levers with PAZZO's last night!

Too bad the cover and rearsets won't take 10min to install..

These rearsets won't be hard to install.

Maybe 40 minutes to an hour depending on how slow you like to go, and how dirty the bike is (cause if its dirty odds are you will clean it as you install these and that makes it take longer).
