Speed Racer

i have to start with one word... why?

this was utter shite and i just saw it in IMAX which makes it a thousand times better.

it looked like a child film, set in a chilRAB fantasy world, although my fellow cinema goers enjoyed it or atleast they were wooping away every 5 mins

conclusion -

There you go! It just wasn't your "cuppa tea".. ;) . And that's allright!

Everyone has a different opinion. I have no desire to see this and wonder WHY IN THE WORLD Susan Sarandon would take this part, but I surmise I do not have her bills to pay..:D

Wouldn't that not be because it's a children's film based on a children's cartoon?

Anyone know if this cartoon was ever even shown in the UK, by the way?

I saw enough of the trailer to realise before hand, that this was a film aimed at 5 year olRAB. Like most things they adapt from Asian influences, it loses so much in the translation; like everything is lost in the translation.

I liked it.

But then I've always been partial to the F-Zero video games of which Speed Racer is a close enough live action approximation without Nintendo getting medieval on the Wachowski's ass.

Hmmmm... I doubt I'll be seeing this on the big screen. Everything I have read has been negative. I'll wait for it to arrive on DVD, me thinks.

You have to see it on a big screen.

Love it or hate it the level of bonkers psychedelia on display in Speed Racer simply won't translate to the living room.

This was a rubbish film and should be aimed purely at children - there is NOTHING for adults to enjoy at all.

There may be nostalgia for the cartoon for those who saw it originally but surely that can't last for the whole film!

AVOID THIS PILE OF POO :D

Im amazed at the negative reaction to Speed Racer as I enjoyed it. Ok its not amazing but it is an enjoyable family film if a bit too long!
The effects are amazing and look great on the big screen. Some of the reviews for Speed Racer have been ok as Empire gave it 3 out of 5. Although ive never seen the original cartoon so I cant compare it to that!

I thought it was a cool film. True the story sucks a bit and the flash backs are badly timed but the special effects are just brilliant, you don't go to watch this film for the story if you did you got the whole wrong idea about thsi film.

I watched it in IMAX and its soo cool. As long as you don't take it serious it is fun, its basically a giant cartoon in super High Def brain melting CGI colour madness. :D

The great thing is there is nothing else like this, its worth seeing just for that, especially if you can catch it in IMAX.

I'd say it deserves a good 3/5 but it is aimed at kiRAB, and grown ups like me who still haven't actually grown up :-D

Dissapointed in Emile Hirch for agreeing to shite like this after playing such an enigmatic role in Into The Wild. He could have been on the verge of great things now he'll go back to being a nobody.

I use to watch Speed Racer in the late 60s and early 70s. It was one of my favourite cartoons. I was green with envy over Trixie and lusted after Speed. No idea why.... looking at it now.

I took two boys to see the film, one 8 and one 10. The 8 yo was bored with the film, full stop. The 10 year old was bored with the plot- he complained it was hard to follow.

I thought it was terrible. The only thing that made me laugh about modern Speed Racer were the martial arts fights. I would never buy this on DVD and am down right sorry I wasted my hard earned money on this film.
