Speed (1994)

Was watching this on christmas day (yes I was bored..) and am I the only one on this planet that still thinks its a great film?

The 2nd part was utter crap but the first film was decent enough and I liked the chemistry between Reeves and Bullock..

Anyone else like me?

Definitely in my top 5 action films. Love it. Unfortunately didn't realise it was on on Xmas Day. Might look to pick it up on dvd.

Why would you think you are the only person on the planet who likes it?

The original is still a great movie, one of the best 'high-concept' movies ever.

Now if you were talking about the sequel...

Speed starts slow (how ironic ) and I don't rate Keanu Reeves too highly but the film has some good adrenaline-pumping action scenes.

I actually don't think Speed 2 is as bad as it's made out to be. It's no worse than most sequels and the scene of the ship crashing into the island is quite impressive.

There's no shame in liking Speed. My frienRAB describe me as a film snob (I prefer indie and foriegn films to stupid, purile comedies) but Speed is one of my favourites. It's a well crafted thriller, pure and simple, although I agree that the subway stuff at the end is slight overkill.
