if i end up at the specalist ,just woundering how would they get my 9 vertabreas from sticking allthe way to the left??sorry if its a stupid question:)

You would be surprised at how much they are able to do these days. I have a severe scoliosis which was barely corrected at all, since I did not get to a doctor when I first had symptoms. By the time I got to see a doctor, I had finished growing and very little could be done except to fuse me where I was so it wouldn't get worse.

Now, 30 years later, the surgeon who did my last fusion, 1 1/2 years ago, tells me how sorry he is that he can't do more for me. (I'm thrilled, though, that he was able to do as much as he did!) He says that back when I had my first fusion, that was the only thing they could do. Nowadays, he says, they would never leave me like this. They could get me straight! I have a 75 degree curve, so that's pretty amazing! The advances in surgical techniques have come a long way.

thanks for the reply, i'm still really hoping the pt works but i wasn't sure what any one else would really do..
my mom also has severe scoliosis and is totally fuesed and harington roRAB etc hers is s shaped i'm not sure of her nurabers i beleave 70/60?? i just gave her this web site i think she would love the suport..
so to get the vertabreas to stay back in norm. postion is potental surgery??

Well, I don't really know what your diagnosis is, so I don't want to tell you surgery is the answer. I'm guessing it might be, but there may be other options, too. It depenRAB on what exactly is going on in there, how old you are, etc. My son inherited my back, but we got him to a doctor immediately and he was braced. He is now 19 and has been able to avoid the surgery. We don't expect him to get any worse, and he has no pain from it.

Hope for the best. There may be an easier solution than surgery. But if surgery is recommended, get at least two opinions from doctors in separate groups. If they concur, then that might be the best thing that could ever happen for you! I'm so glad I went through with it. I can't imagine how bad I'd be now if I hadn't had both fusions.

I hope your mom signs up and gets some good support here. It's been a great help and encouragement to me!
