Spam Reuben

Ah. I haven't tried those. This looks like a potentially useful
blog for when one wants to eat something quick and cheap. (I
should add that I am TRYING to concentrate more on nutrients again
though.)

Hmmm. Speaking of Indonesian packaged foods, have you or anyone
else here tried the Kokita (IIRC) sauce packets?

That brings back some mixed memories. Spam salad! It was actually a
green salad, but instead of a bacon bit garnish, it was Spam, cut into
about 1/4 inch cubes and fried until crispy. I think it was my mother
who used to do this.

I use a lot of the sambals and am very happy with them. But I have
not seen/tried any of their sauce packets.

They weren't "food stamps". I'm almost 68 and I remember *ration
coupons*... everything was rationed, not just food, even needed a
coupon to buy shoes. During WWII the most plentiful and least
expensive meat was lamb chops.... was about all we ate... that's why
today I HATE lamb, it SCHTINKS... I refuse to eat at a restaurant that
has lamb on its menu. I don't remember any SPAM then, it all went to
the military.

Maybe I'll pick one up and try it. Probably a good idea to
augment it with more spices. The ingredients in the packets seem
to acquire a certain sameness after living together for so long.
