Spaced

Forgot it was on and only caught the last half. I love Brian. :)

Fun fact. The character of Brian was inspired by Julian Barratt's character Victor Munroe in Asylum, also starring SP and JS. He was supposed to play Brian but couldn't because of contract something or others. But we got Mark Heap, so that was just about perfect anyway. Those two do remind me of each other though.

CH4 should do Spaced: The Next Generation.

Could work. Would annoy Simon Pegg lots!

Although it should really be prequels to stay within the spirit of the show.

Would still annoy Simon Pegg lots.

Hi everyone,

We're glad you're enjoying the reruns of Spaced on Dave. However we are very sorry that we removed certain parts of episode 1.

Having taken all feedback on board (including Simon Pegg's and Edgar Wright's on Twitter!), the remaining episodes will play out in their entirety and the placement of the commercial break will be in the same place as it was when Channel 4 showed it originally.

Hopefully this will enable you all to enjoy the series as you remembered it the first time around!

It's not as good as I was expecting. Maybe i'm just behind the times, or ahead of them as this is an older series.

I do like the cutaways, maybe that was an influence for How Not To Live Your Life which is one of the best programs i've seen for a while.

I like Spaced but I think part of it's impact is lost because of the passing of time.

It still works because the characters are real and there is a nice story in each episode but a lot of the topical "resonance" will obviously not be there any more.

This is a warning to anyone (BBC and er... Hollywood) that remakes are very unlikely to work because what made a show succesful in the first place is often just timing, the right concept at the right time.

That's not to say Spaced was ever successful...

you mean dave cut bits out to fit it within a half hour period? How? why?!

It used to air on channel four in a half hour with only one commercial break. It's only 22 minutes long, minus adverts. You mean dave needed more than 8 or so minutes and removed footage?

Simon Pegg said on Twitter "Hope Edgar Wright isn't watching Spaced on Dave. They edited it with a pair of dick scissors. He will be mad. Like I am."

Always good to see the Scooby Doo gag, though, one of my favourites.

Think I'll stick the clubbing episode on now... :)

Personally I thought the second series was much better.

What was the point of the 'Twist' character, she always seemed like a spare part.

Was she a mate of Jessica Stevenson?
