Well, this movie has the unfortunate case of coming out the weekend that The Dark Knight did. Plus, two other CG movies, WALL*E and Kung Fu Panda are out and still are making money. Still, for those who did decide to see the movie, how was it?

With TDK opening, I dont think anyone over the age of 7 would've bothered to see Space Chimps this weekend, let alone a TZ member, so I wouldnt expect any replies to this topic.

I agree. Not only did the movie not stand a chance with The Dark Knight coming out, but Mugen had a good point about WALL*E and Kung Fu Panda still making money. So that weakened Space Chimps chances of doing well even further. My guess is that this film would be watch with a parent or parents while other friends and family memebers would go and see The Dark Knight.

Toon Zone News's review is here. "Scrofular clump of raw monkey flesh" is about the kindest thing I have to say on its behalf.

Interesting. I can only assume it was sheer chance that led Ed to post within 60 seconds of me, and to borrow the same quote to summarize the experience.

I haven't seen Space Chimps yet, but I can't say that this review is a total shock to me. I've seen the trailers, and it didn't look like much. It doesn't help that the biggest "celebrity" voice that they could get was SNL's Andy Samberg, who is, and let's be honest here, "dork" funny, not "Ha-ha!" funny.

I'm not surprised with this review either. Just from the looks of the trailers, the movie didn't look like much to me either. Besides that, the idea of three chimps, one of which being the typical non-leader material but becomes the leader anyway, didn't really click for me. Given the choice of the movies in theaters now, I would much rather go see WALL*E or The Dark Knight, if I didn't mind being nervous throughout the film.

None of the ads I saw even mentioned Samberg by name, and he voiced the lead character.

Perhaps it was a deliberate attempt to protect the innocent....

I don't agree with the toon zone review because I really enjoyed this movie I expected less from it but i really liked it.
Even though the ads were dumb and comedy and animation were put at a reasonable budget this movie was great. I don't expect a sequel to it but there is a chance it could happen if it does good the next few weeks.
I give the movie 4.5/5 stars
