Soy milk allergic reactions?

I drank soy milk for the first time in my life(age 54) and had an immediate reaction. Bright red and swollen gums followed by slight closing of the throat. Benedryl relieved the throat sypmtoms but the redness in the gums took much longer to go away. In fact it still is there after 5 months although it does not bother me or causes problems. Periodontist is stumped as to the lasting affect if that is the cause. Have never had problems with any soy product before and no reaction to regular milk either.

Anyone experience this before?
