South Park - "The F Word" [11/4]

I loved this. It spoke to me; the hatred towards obnoxious bikers (but hey, easy on the Harley hate, South Park writers; Harleys don't annoy people, people annoy people), the use of the F word to describe various assortments of jerks; and - I never thought I'd see the day when I'd actually cheer on Cartman, but I did tonight when he marched up to the bikers and told them off. Followed by Ike (go, Ike!) and then the rest of the kids. I gotta say, South Park is having a strong season so far. The whale episode last week was aces, and this one was equally as good. 10/10. VrrrrrrOOOOOM!!!! :evil:
 
You know, I remember in the talkback for the Guitar Hero episode, someone accused the South Park Guys of being homophobic for having the end of the game say "Congratulations, you're a fag." What I tried to explain at the time was that they don't really use the term fag to describe homosexuals, it's just a general insult. I wonder if this episode was a response to criticism that they use the f word in their show a lot.
 
Truthfully this episode is fairly one joke. And the joke is that the people who are loud, annoying and ride they're Harley motorcycles around are f's (my shortened term for you know what). So really if anything this episode wasn't specifically being biogted against anyone but them and really who can blame the SP team for hating them? I know I've heard enough of those guys riding around to want to label them as f*s so I can see where the SP Team is coming from. Also considering that the motorcycles didn't care they were annoying people, tried being more loud and obnoxious to get attention and at the end attacked everyone it was obvious we weren't really suppose to feel any sympathy for them which is good. And makes for a good episode. True it's fairly one note but it's actually something I feel fairly strongly about. Or at least would completley agree about the point of the motorcyclists. I also liked the boys beign together in this one. Either relaxing or coming up with plans or having to explain to the town why they think the motorcyclists are F's were pretty funny. As well as finding out the other F's auditions and getting it changed to the motorcyclists as well. There wasn't really a lot of wasted material either since it was all you could really do with the motorcyclists either and seeing them always try stupidtly to imitate they're bikes never really got old. And the continuity nods (big Gay Al and Mr. Slave being a couple, Stan and Kyle's tolerance for gays, the Mayor picking a grudge with the boys, etc) were nice too. Not really the best episode but solid throughout. So far there really hasn't been an outright bad episode this season. Things started out fairly weak but have flatlined rather well.
 
Great/hilarious episode much like an early episode with a "one-note joke" formula reminding me of the hilarious N-Bomb episode with Randy, hehehe,

The highlights:
The poor four boys annoyed by the Harley Riders' loud obnoxiousnesses.
The Harley Riders are pretty funny dumb villains doing their vrooming impressions to annoy people, hehehe.
Cartman bashing those bikers to call them fags was awesome.
Go Ike & those other 2 kids to call them fags, hahahahaha:D:p.
The Harley Riders wanting to be even louder & obnoxious to get attention using their horns/sirens, hehehe.
Butters wanting to be a Harley Rider while mentioning "bike-curious," hahahahaha.
The boys bashing those dumb bikers by crapping their motorcycle seats with a little sign & spray-painting the billboard sign & houses, hahahahaha:p:D, go boys!!!!!
The poor boys in trouble being accused of homophobing because of the word.
The Harley Riders learning what the word means which has many definitions, wooow!!!!!
The reporter using the picture to describe people what a fag is, hahahahahaha.
The cameraman getting decked by the Harley Rider, hahahahahaha.
The poor boys have to convince the dictionary people as well because of the word.
Emmanuel Lewis's appearance who was the character, Webster from Webster due to the name of the dictionary, nice joke there, hehehe.
Butters looking cool as a Harley Rider while being called a fag by the Harley Rider, hahahahahaha:p:D:p.
The Harley Riders finally see the light by wanting to be called fags, hehehe.
The four boys save the day by changing the definition.
 
I'm not going to comment on the word in question. But I will say this: I HATE when there's literally a parade of bikers. They end up getting a police escort, and the road is blocked for like 15 minutes. Why do bikers need a parade??????
 


I didn't know who Emmanuel Lewis was until this episode, actually. But when I looked him up and found he was most famous for playing a character named Webster in a show of the same name, I got the joke. Pretty clever reference there.
 
Actually, this episode was far better than the mid-season premiere episode, which was by far the weakest episode of this season being that it was completely stupid and unfunny, IMO. That said, it was still a relatively weak episode, though, but at least there were a few good moments which I could laugh at in it.
 
Oh, it's spreading. There have already been vandalizations to Harley-Davidson's Wikipedia article, and now virtually every single YouTube video about Harley now has a comment with the F-Word or bikecurious under it. Harley-Davidson has even disabled the comments on their YouTube channel out of fear. :D
 
I can't believe how hard people are on South Park sometimes.

This episode was solid throughout and felt a lot like a 'classic' episode. This season, Trey & Matt have largely stayed away from current event episodes which people seem to whine about the most, and people still are finding reasons to complain. Guess you can't win.
 
Is it just me, or does Cartman seem a lot less antagonistic than normal? Except for arguably The Coon and Fatbeard, he hasn't done anything particularly heinous all season (and in fact, selflessly goes along in helping Kenny in "The Ring" and Ike/Michael Jackson in "Dead Celebrities")

There wasn't a lot to laugh at in this episode. the one joke wasn't particularly hilarious.
 
Yeah, it shows that South Park's fanbase takes the show way too seriously.

I actually enjoyed this episode though. It certainly wasn't hilariously funny, but I enjoyed the subject matter of the episode. I also like how Cartman hasn't been very antagonistic lately.
 
Actually, it is pretty funny that South Park has such an impact on popular culture that a corporation such as Harley Davidson would fear backlash after being lampooned on an episode.

I know you don't care for the series but you can't deny how much of an impact this series does have on the youth of today.
 
I gotta say guys, this is the best episode of the half-season! Well, on par at least with Whale w..., I mean in both episodes I did not stop laughing!
 
OOOOH! Thats the joke! I knew who he was and was confused and asking myself "wasnt he Webster?" I thought they were referencing VH1s "I Love the 80s" Which in every episode he defines an 80s word. I also didnt get VH1s Webster joke. I assumed they picked him for the bit because he was an 80s star and was a goof fit.

My opinion on this episode: Not good.

I get the whole "f@ggot" joke because theyre trying to point out how annoying it is when people say "That's gay" or "That's retarded." Im many cases, yes, that IS "retarded." But for something to be gay, the object, person, or action must have some homosexual cues. But to use the word "f@ggot" well thats a word that just has way too many definitions. They didnt even cover how f@gs are cigarettes in the UK.

Now for the Harley joke. I dont approve of this at all. Yes theyre annoying, but where Im from 50% of them are commuting, not riding aimlessly with no destination. I actually like Harley riders. They are very safe, follow all traffic laws, and so on. Its the sport bike riders that are F@GGOTS! Theyre just as loud, typically louder because they almost always ride 10-40mph OVER the speed limit. They tail gate, cut people off, NEVER signal.

Theres only been 2 times where I see harley riders being F@GGOTS. Both times was when I was in Orlando. There must of been some lame festival or convention in town because they were EVERYWHERE. Its hard enough trying to sleep on a hard bed in an unknown hotel room, but when its 2 in the morning and the constant noise doesnt stop, theres a problem! especially when Im 7 flights up.

Second happened the next day. These stupid F@GGOTS were riding all together to raise even more awareness of themselves. Their own awareness is one of my biggest annoyances. That whole "look twice" campaign. I remember seeing these bumper stickers on SUVs, oh yeah, youll look twice for loud obnoxious bikes that you SHOULD have alreasy known about, but not look ONCE for a bright red shiny show winning convertible with their lights on in broad daylight! Well anyway, since there were so many bikers, imagine a parade of 7,000 bikers, going really slow, on the highway. First off, you let a couple of the ones with the flags and banners in front of you, but the other 5000 want to be with their buddies, so now youre surrounded by these idiots all trying to get in front of you. When you do finally have a gap, youll take it since theyre all riding so slow. But you have to pass that 5-6000 before your exit. What do you do? Well what can you do, you signal, and signal, and signal, speed, slow down, signal, oh good you missed your exit, speed up, slow down, signal, FORCE YOUR WAY IN! Screw looking twice, we looked 50 bajillion times!!!

Ok, so now why I sympathize with them: One would think a bright red car would be safer than a motorcycle, its not. So my cars all fixed up. We're talking blue neon so they'll notice me at night, loud engine and exhaust, loud stereo system... ...a bright red car with a TON of exterior mods. But people STILL dont notice me!!! Even jaywalkers!!! You would think grown up pedestrians would at least look at me ONCE before jaywalking, they dont. And I cant tell you how many times Ive been off roading because SUVs and trucks who have never been off road once, either dont look, or dont wait. Oh, and this is why people like me, and probably the harley riders dont speed. We may be obvious to cops, but your average motorists focuses on 50 other things before whats actually outside their vehicle.

What really should happen: There should be a decibel maximum. Ive heard of officers issuing tickets for loud exhaust. Its called noise pollution, or DISTURBING THE PEACE. Yeah, my car is loud, but I can make it much louder by going more than 2000 RPMs, so I dont. Its not necessary. Im not racing. I can see a town ignoring it, if its just a week, since passing gangs help the economy, but if a complaint is made, and they are too loud, they can be ticketed. I know of some kids who got in trouble scaring horses with ATVs, The noise gave the horses too much stress, which causes them to be unhealthy and devalues their value. ... ...not to mention the property value.

Theres laws, the SP creators just ignored that. I mean, which is better, harley noises that irritate you for 5 seconds, or hate messages painted all over innocent peoples property, people who were already victims to the harley noises.
 
I don't mind your opinion and all, but I just find it funny that the guy who is always complaining about people going into Family Guy talkbacks and bashing the show and complaining about it's effect on people/TV/the world/etc. is now doing the same with South Park.
