South Park - "Royal Pudding" - Talkback [5/11]

I'm with you. My episode is pretty much summed up by that one kid after Mr. Mackey reacts to discovering that tooth decay has been defeated.

Yep, Trey and Matt have not completely recovered from The Book of Mormon.

I was really hoping that in this episode we would have a lot of old school Canadian SP refrences, and that unlike "Canada On Strike" that Ike would actually have a leading role in saving the day instead of being the reason Kyle and the others got into the plot. So actually all my hopes came true. Yeah there was Kyle in the Kindergardners play but that was more Mr. Mackey's thing (I don't know why Kyle didn't go after his brother unless he was forced to by Mackey to be in the play though) with him getting so angry about how no one's preforming right. Maybe that's a refrence to Matt and Trey's own expierence with The Book Of Mormon, but I just think it's their excuse to have Mr. Mackey angry the whole episode. They admitted they liked that in "The Mystery Of The Urinal [censored]" of him just being angry over a little thing and I think it works as well here. Mostly because he's cursing at little children and actually getting to drop the S-Bomb (a... fourth for SP actually) and really this is the level of a kindergadern play. I don't know about the whole Mackey's father killed by Tooth Decay (kind of hoping the monster wouldn't be tooth decay since it seemed obvious when Mackey kept saying he was a real problem but hey at least the play didn't get in the way of the other plot) but I guess that was there Osama refrence: the horrible monster is just what happens when you don't properly brush your teeth or floss. Yeah I guess this is everyone asking "aren't you going to have Osama die in your show?" to Matt and Trey and them twisting expecations on us.

The Ike plot was a lot better though. First off I really liked how he was the starring hero and earnestly did care about the princess and wanting to save her. Nice to see him as an actual active hero on his own accord and not just doing something so Kyle would have to save him. I also liked the narrator who went over everything being royal Canada tradition, the various goomba creatures coming when the princess was encompassed in a light cube (part of me thought this might be a your highness spoof but I doubt it's that), the box mentioning that if you are opening it without it being an emergencey you're a jerk, and yeah all the old school Canada refrences. Terrance and Phillip were kind of expected and I'm glad they refrenced the queef sisters but really I thought they would join Ike in saving the princess. Actually in a nice little fan squee we get the return of two other rarley seen characters: Scott (now a giant thanks to radiation who everyone still hates but at least here isn't a bad guy, just a big jerk) and Ugly Bob. One of the few SP characters I only found out about through reading a script before seeing it but really nice twist on them joining on Ike's quest and Ike saving the day by showing Tooth Decay Ugly Bob's true face. (Apparently he's gotten "uglier" since I don't remember him freezing monsters before). And Ike getting his just reward at the es well as the other cracks from the boys on it not being a big deal. Really in truth I think if more time at focused on the quest and showed some more of Candaian's enemies (like Abootman who could of just been floating by on an iceberg) and less of the subplot this would of been a better episode. Still it's defintley the first of the season not to keep hammering in the same jokes from how I feel and I really love continuity nods in their shows and since this had a lot I think that ups it's greatness factor for me.

This was the most completely outrageous episode ever! Mr. Mackey, outrageous. The Canadians, outrageous. Tooth Decay, even more outrageous! Plus, the return of Ugly Bob! A++!

This episode was amusing...

I liked the kindergarten play rehearsal (seemed to be a reference to a similar Sesame Street skit...especially the little blonde girl playing the piano, and reciting the same way as Prarie Dawn)...and Mackie getting more and more frustrated/angry at the kids as the episode went on,especially after Kyle had to join the cast to replace Ike (who went to Canada to save the princess)...

and some of the older Canadian characters returning (like Scott, who's now a giant due to radiation, and Ugly Bob,who apparently now has the power to turn anyone who looks at him to stone)...

Great/hilarious episode, I love Canadian episodes!!!!!

The highlights:
The kindergarteners' dental play is so cute.
Poor Ike missing the dental play.
The Canadian announcer's lines were hilarious, hahahahaha.
Nice to see Terrance and Phillip/the Qweef Sisters:Katherine and Kate.
The Royal Wedding looks beautiful.
The Canadian princess is pretty.
The Canadian princess being kidnapped surprised me.
The Canadian Mushroom people remind me of the Mushroom People from Super Mario Brothers 3.
Poor Ike crying made me sad too.
The suicidal Canadians was funny, hahahahaha.
The Canadian band RUSH are pretty cool.
Warrior Ike is awesome, cool that he gets a major role.
Serious/frustrated/crazy Mr. Mackey was super hilarious, hahahahahaha:p:D:p.
Cool to see Ugly Bob again, he's a great new Canadian character.
Poor Kyle being Tooth Decay.
Nice to see my favorite returning Canadian villain Scott who's now a giant and becoming a big jerk anti-hero and not a villain was great:eek::anime:.
Both Ugly Bob/Scott joining Ike's quest to save the Canadian princess was great.
The Native Canadians were great/interesting.
Scott becoming a racist like Eric Cartman/Herbert Garrison was funny.
The s-bomb unbleeped.
Poor Mr. Mackey losing his father to Tooth Decay.
That baby Native Canadian was SO CUTE!!!!!
I love Tooth Decay who's one awesome monster villain with a cool design.
Ike saving the day using Ugly Bob's "ugly" face to defeat Tooth Decay was marvelous, go Ike!!!!!!
Ugly Bob's power is so like Medusa's, hahahahaha.
Tooth Decay's death parodying Osama Bin Laden's death was great.
The butt bells were disturbing/funny.
WOOOOOOW, that's one sick Canadian tradition, ripping off the Canadian princess's arm and sticking it in your butt, woooooow:eek::ack::ack:!!!!!!
I so like how the Canadians look silly/funny-looking with the flip top heads.

After Scott/Steven Abootman/Tooth Decay, I hope to see some more cool/interesting Canadian villains in the future.

Who are they gonna get to replace him? My suggestion would be Rik Emmet from Triumph, who's a much better singer than Geddy Lee, btw.

This episode had so many missed opportunities.

The first being Osama of course. If they do an episode on his death next week, the moment would have passed. It would still be funny, but by next Wednesday, his death will be moving to the background. In fact, when the roof started to fall in the opening wedding scene, I was thinking Al Qaeda was attacking lol.

Now, the musical subplot was boring. No point whatsoever, and so much potential. What other musical has had problems lately, with angry directors, stars needing replacement, and worries about delays? This could have been a great send up of "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark", but it never amounted to anything.

Only parts I laughed at were the weird Canadian traditions (and only the first couple, the joke got killed by the time they actually got to the titular pudding) and the return of the Canadian cars, with their square wheels. In fact, I shouldn't have even laughed at that part. It's an old joke being revisited, and I only found it funny because the entire season so far has been very lacking.

What's odd they they DID as points, but not at others!

I would say it was due to the context, but by the 25-minute mark, I was just confused as all get out!

I don't know about anyone else....

BUT I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS EPISODE!!

I thought it was hilarious! From the "traditions" of Canadaian Royalty to Mr. Garrison's nonsense math problem to Mr. Mackey's director freakouts to the return of Scott and Ugly Bob (it was actually kind of cool seeing Scott a good guy for once) to the s-word getting unbleeped numerous times.......

I was cracking up so many times during this episode and this is from a diehard Kenny lover.

This may be the first non-Kenny episode in a long while that I can say I laughed my butt off at and enjoyed thoroughly.

I think Matt and Trey KNOW after 200-201's incident, they're being given one last chance and they are NOT going to screw up again!

Ya know, I gotta agree. I got the whole making fun of the wedding thing. But I guess I just don't quite get what the joke was with the whole tooth decay thing.

Why do people keep complaining that they aren't doing an Osama episode? They made nods to it in this week's and last week's. Even if they do a full episode of it, it could tread dangerously into "seen it" territory considering they covered similar ground nearly 10 years ago.

Personally, I liked this one, but I love the Canadian episodes. Count me amongst those that still say "I'm not your buddy-pal!"

This episode was rather weird. What was with the whole "as is tradition" thing? Did they keep saying that during the real wedding?

I really had a hard time finding something funny about this episode. I don't think it was the worst Canada episode, Eat Pray Queef remains that, but nothing really clicked with me.

I thought it was nice to see Scott again and to see Ike have some time to shine. The play stuff was a little funny, if only because of the "It's funny because it's true" thing. I remember my drama teacher being like that.
