This episode is hilarious. After two awful episodes in a row, it's nice to see something so corny it's funny. It also helps that I can't stand this kind of music so to go so over the top with their "destruction" is a blessing.

"One of our friends was raped in Peru". HAH
 
Cool reference to the Indy episode.

But really, the only enjoyment I'm getting out of this episode is Craig telling the boys how horrible they really are, yet HE'S apparently the bad influence in the parents' eyes.

Panflute bands? seems kinda "bottom of the barrel" stuff to make fun of doncha think? and Harsh but truthfull words from Craig to the boys, we can tell now he's not really the "go on wacky adventures" type eh? an ok episode, maybe better if I had actually seen Cloverfield. :sweat:
 
Um.....flute bands? I've never seen a single one. Is this really a problem?

The Cloverfield thing was good, but everything else has been done before, and better, with funnier targets.

Looks like we're not getting an election episode this time around.
 
This one was alright.....I'm guessing the Peruvian Flute Bands are more common on the West Coast,since I'm a New Englander,and I've never seen one....

Craig's lines about how/why everyone hates Stan,Kyle,Cartman,and Kenny were all really funny

....and the giant,live-action guinea pig made me laugh...

...Another two (or possibly more) parter?....I guess it'll be interesting to see where it leads....
 
The whole Peruvian flute thing was odd, since I've never seen or heard of them before. But I did enjoy this episode. And hope it's a two-parter. Someone told me it wouldn't be though...
 
Let's hope for "Pandemic Part 2" next week where Cartman, Kenny, Stan, Kyle, and Craig avoid prison and stop the giant guinia pig, as long as Comedy Central doesn't wuss out with a brief Terrance and Phillip clip.
 
What. Is it a standard for South Park to have at least one cliffhanger every season now? There have been more of those lately.

Not that its a bad thing. The ending really got interesting. Better than the first parts of the episode.

I'll echo everyone else about Craig's deadpan comments on the boys.
 
So it was Craig that the Government/Alien guy said in the very last line. My DVR only recorded up to before he said Craig, which would of actually made more sense since people could wonder who he was going to say.

Overall , I enjoyed the episode. It seemed like a classic South Park without any big preaching or and a plot so ridiculous, it was like it was out of Season 1 or 2. People may be sick of turning something mundane into something dramatic, but I think that's what makes it funny. I hope I'm not the only one who thinks this.

And the Indy reference was a pretty logical thing to say based on the situation. I know people wish Matt and Trey would "let it die." but this was only one reference throughout the whole entire show. The last episode made no reference whatsoever (Breast Cancer Show Ever) but I do think the situation that the boys were in did call for the Indy reference.

And this is probably obvious to most people here but I see some people assuming that Indy being raped was just some random joke that made no sense. It was metaphorical. I know thats probably obvious to the majority here but some people on here and some people I know in real life just assumed it was some random joke.

But back to the episode, a minor character like Craig getting in some good lines and his dead monotone delivery of the boys telling him their plan of starting a Peruvian flute band was hilarious as well as his other comments. The Giant Guinea Pigs reminded me of an early episode like the Mecha-Streisand episode or when Mr Hankey made all the crap come out the sewers and cover the whole town. Just something completely random and true to South Park.

While there were flaws, overall I thought it was great.

HARD to decide a rating so its a toss up with a A- or a B for me.
 
It was the standard for the first four seasons. The season finale for the first season and the second episode of the second season dealt with Cartman's father. The third season had the meteor shower trilogy and the fourth had the gang dealt with the church with Cartman trying raise ten million dollars. It wasn't until season ten when the cliffhanger strategy returned. This is a great tactic of extending plotline which can not be covered in a full episode and imagination can run wild. I hope Matt & Trey try to do a cliffhanger for a season finale, but social topics would prevent this from happening.

I have yet to see the episode, college work is the main factor. Alas, that's another story...
 
I'm going to ignore the early-thread cynics and say that this was an awesome episode! Sure, the early-going was a little generic, but it wasn't a whole-episode direct parody nor was it needlessly vulgar or stupid. That alone makes it a standout in recent seasons... Then once Craig joined the crew...

I've always liked it when the show just focused on the boys. And I've always liked the supporting kids. This had both. Awesome.
 
I couldn't make it past the halfway point of this episode. I think watching it after having watched "Die, Hippie, Die" on DVD earlier the same day may have been a mistake.

Although actually, now that I think about it, I think this will be a good new rule for me. From now on, every new South Park has ten minutes to wow me, then I give up. Given Matt and Trey's batting average over the last few seasons, I stand to save a good two hours of my life every season that way.
