South Park - "Medicinal Fried Chicken" - Talkback [3/31]

Best episode of the season so far.

The big balls plot was so incredibly disturbing yet hilarious at the same time. That loopy song that played while Randy was hopping around town just sealed the deal.

I rather enjoyed this episode, it was cool to see Ned and Jimbo again after god knows how long and the Perrey and Kingsley (at least I think it was them) track playing during the ball-bouncing scene had me rolling. But the disgusting ending ruined it for me. I know it's South Park and it's supposed to be offensive, but that was just nasty.

This was a very funny episode. It seems like every episode this season has been solid.

But regarding Randy's big balls being shown... How can South Park get away with showing stuff like those?

Eh, i didnt laugh once at the balls, though i was amused at how the women reacted to it, especially randy telling his wife to not stare at his balls and to look at his ace and all that, The cartman plot was petter.

Once again Matt and Trey have found a way to attempt to gross us out: by having Randy and others gigantic swelling balls pierce out of their pants and being ridden around like a bouncing ball. Strangley though this isn't nearly as gross as the vommitting. Maybe it's due to the sound effects, or the music played when they were all bouncing, or the nice overrunning (thankfully not into the ground though) joke of Sharon and other women actually enjoying the huge balls. Or the fact that Randy and co bouncing on balls was shown just when it was asked what was silly about people abusing medicinal marajunia. I don't know but this plot actually worked for me a lot more then I thought it would seeing Randy's swollen balls. I also liked Randy's other attempts to get cancer, and Stan just not looking notably tweaked seeing his dad putting his balls in the microwave. And though not the strongest ending the Scrotum coat was actually a nice gag and defintley a lot better ending then I would of thought of for this kind of plot.

I did much prefer Cartman's chicken plot though. Just like how M&T didn't bash on people for smoking pot (but rather the extreme lengths they'd go to get it) they don't really bash on KFC. I think the point is that it should be kept out of hands of people like Cartman, and those desperate enough to look into getting it illegally. And though we've seen these kind of "Boys making deals with mafia esque buisnesses before" (like in "Tooth Fairy Tats 2000") this was a nice tale of addic to leader. And though Cartman can in fact be a great leader and actually make quite the proft, it shouldn't be with something like KFC. I mean even chocolate and candy is something he can contain himself for, but even for Eric KFC was a sometimes food. And being surrounded by it his mind became more about eating it then really anything else. I did like his anger, his catholic jokes (since they were only kept to three), him chewing out the addic center for only having gravy, him threathenig the guy for using Boston Market gravy (Boston Market is quite inferior, though I don't see his point on grazy as much), Cartman meeting the Colonel and laughing at the guy who was killed, tattling on the leader and trying to get away with the chicken at the end.

Though not a total LOL ep an enjoyable one that didn't start slagging like some other SP eps have latley (most notably "sexual healing") since it seemed like they were actually going somewhere more with the plot. Weird as that plot was.

It's on cable, so the FCC rules don't apply, and it's South Park, a show that has been doing stuff like this since it's inception.

Pretty hilarious stuff. Seeing Randy's balls in the wheel barrow was hilarious enough, but when he started bouncing I just lost it and laughed harder than I have at anything on TV in a while. The Cartman plot was great as well. Don't **** with the colonel.

Uh no, it is true, the FCC has no jurisdiction over cable television(Hell, technically they no jurisdiction over local broadcast stations between the hours of 10PM and 6AM). The reason that porn isn't shown on basic cable channels is because of the fear of losing advertisers.

You mean that is the only reason? So if some company gave CC millions of dollars to cover all their advertisement needs, could they show porn if that company was ok with it?

I'm sure that's a matter of self-control. People would sue over porn on channels that kids can see, so they're playing it safe.

According to CN reps, FCC made Cartoon Network do spots talking about healthy eating.

From the FCC FAQ:
What I gather from this is that the FCC has no control as to whether cable channels use swearing or show objectionable content, meaning cable channels like Comedy Central are only limited by themselves as to how much swearing they let their shows get away with(this was even demonstrated by the 5th season ep. "It Hits The Fan"), however full-fledged pornography would still fall under their jurisdiction(which actually makes sense). So, in a way, you were right cohen, but the FCC still has no ruling over whether South Park can show Randy's big balls or not, that's up to CC.

Ok. To be honest, I am not surprised they got away with showing his balls, they did the huge crab earlier and showed Terrance and Phillip naked, no pixilation. Same goes for Cartman.

It was a pretty good episode...I know he's not well liked by the fans, but personally,I like Randy, the stupider and crazier the better....I loved his attempts to give himself cancer (especially when Stan walked in on him microwaving his balls),just so he could get medicinal marijuana....What happened after he actually got cancer was pretty funny,too...Jimbo and Ned are back after a long absence, and Barbrady appears again...

The Cartman story was also amusing, especially his going through KFC withdrawal, and his jokes about the Pope...
