South Park "Dances With Smurfs" Talkback

QFTATMFW. I would pay money to see that happen. Ever since I decided to major in a field that deals with the media and journalism, I have gone on to hate every "news show" I followed/watched. Even I started to not watch The Daily Show and Colbert in favor of Sportscenter. The day when pundit-driven news television gets beat by a show that only deals with the news on cable tv on a regular basis will be a joyous day. But, that day is in Bizarro Walgreens "Perfect World."

Also, to be on-topic, here's the wallpaper for this episode, a Cartman button with his Beck-ian catchphrase.

This wasn't one of the strongest South Parks, but I did like the Smurfs/Avatar gag. Totally fitting and hilarious. As for Glenn Beck, a couple of years ago I saw one of his live performances (I think this was before he left CNN and went to Fox). And he was (intentionally) hilarious. I see him as the conservative Jon Stewart. I can't honestly say which one makes me laugh more.

Just putting the political topic aside. Hey props to Glen Beck for talking about the show and being a good sport about it.

Most celebrities recently seem to have acknowledged their skewerings on South Park and simply acknowledge it and take it in stride rather than throw a fit about it like say SEAN PENN.

Beck even came out and admitted one of his own shortcomings. So despite all the hate against Beck, props to him for talking about the show and having a laugh over it as well as putting forth a problem with libertarianism in general.

Also, being Jewish and conservative, I like Glen Beck. Do I think he goes overboard? Yes. But often times when he's talking about just regular things or entertainment he can be very funny and entertaining.

No. I'm talking about people who advocate assassinations and the like. I use the phrase a bit much, even to describe South Park's more questionable violent jokes but there are plenty of conservatives I don't agree with who I can have a good debate with.

You might be surprised to realize it but I don't watch TV pundits either, not even Maddow or Olbermann. I can't stomach TV news.

The irony is lost with this one.
There goes the point right over your head. Again. NO-ONE believes Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl even the creators of the site. The site is SATIRE. It makes fun of the way Beck makes up all of the garbage about liberals but phrasing everything as a question, so he can walk it back whenever he's called on it. His lawyers have his speech patterns down to a T and the way Cartman acted last episode was exactly the kind of arguments he uses. I'm not even going to address the ridiculous supposed racism of a guy whose mother was white against white people. I'm not going there.
Obviously you have never seen The Daily Show or Colbert. They go after him all the time. Nobody's afraid of that crybaby.

I am only going to say this once. I have to say it again and this thread gets closed. Political discussion is verboten on these boards for a reason. Do not bring up any political topic that is not DIRECTLY related to the specific episode of South Park under discussion. Speak with respect to your fellow board members and their opinions at all times. Warnings will be handed out to anyone who cannot discuss this episode in a civil manner. Just because this is a talkback thread does not mean it cannot be closed. Thank you.

I'm actually kind of surprised they went ahead with it, because they usually tend to shy away from making fun of stuff like that. Like in Goobacks when they made fun of Bill O'Reilly. They could have easily portrayed him as a giant ******bag who screams at his guests but instead they just portrayed him as a normal guy who says "alright" after every sentence, and that could pretty much apply to anyone on the news these days.

Casey Miller was the most amusing thing to me personally. Especially at the end when he started bad talking Cartman.

He sounded quite a bit like Casey Kasem, at least enough to laugh because it sounded waayyy too much like him. lol

The end had to be the best crowning moment of awesomeness I've ever seen.

Wendy managed to twist Cartman's idiocy against him.
And the plug-in for that Avatar movie was nice too.

Cartman: You can't just steal my idea and change it to something else!

I agree...politics is basically taking the "you're a stupidhead" argument that first-graders do with each other to the adult playing field. It makes people feel important...when they aren't.

It's just a human desire to feel superior to each other for trivial reasons.

Regardless, the episode was fantastic.
