South Park "Britney's New Look" Talkback (Spoilers)

Funny opening, very boring middle, funny again at the end. But overall, not great. The funiest gag of the episode was the passing swipe at Butters during the newscast.

By disturbing coincidence, yesterday was the first time I had actually heard a Miley Cyrus song on the radio...

I think I realized the problem, at least for my viewing of the episode. This is just my opinion here, I know others will disagree, but here goes:

Unlike 'Spoiled Whore Video Playset', they actually made Britney sympathetic before they blew her head off. Her talking about things better because she was going to see her kids kind of made you feel bad for her, then when the abuse sets in, you actually do feel bad for her situation.

Now, if they'd taken the Paris Hilton route with her, the show episode would have been funnier, because then you'd WANT Britney to suffer. But the way they portrayed her pre-suicide actually kind made of her more sympathetic.

I got it also. That was pretty awesome. But I actually decided to watch an episode of Hannah Montana just to see what all the fuss is about. It was terrible. Even Dolly Parton couldn't save it :p . Either Miley Cyrus is just bad at acting or the script they gave her was terrible. Either way, I can't understand why people watch that show.

But the SP episode was pretty good. Better than last week.

Wow, that episode was really disturbing. I didn't laugh once, and I regret watching it, but I can't really judge whether I think it was good or bad, just.. very disturbing. Now I do feel pretty bad for Britney Spears.

But they obviously didn't want to go that route. They're two different situations. Britney Spears has gotten media attention because her life is falling apart. Paris Hilton has gotten media attention because she's a whore. And Paris is cashing in on it like nobody's business. Who would feel sorry for her?

Me too, but only because I sort of hope Chris Crocker doesn't do anything. But if he watched it he'd probably agree with it. The episode was basically saying "Leave Britney alone" in a more eloquent way, and about other fallen stars as well.

Wow, am I the only one that watches south park? This episodes doesn't shock me. But it does feel like the social commentary is a bit strong for this one. and the message, "Leave Britney alone". A good message since I'm sick of the coverage on the woman. Leave her alone already.

Yes and did they really think they were making a good episode out of that?

Seriously, I just want to see what Chris Crocker has to say about this now.

Well, that's all about why they were famous. Paris was famous for doing nothing but being an idiot, while Britney was a signer whose life happened to fall apart.

Everyone remember this episode two years from now, when Miley Ray Cyrus is either arrested or goes through some sort of court battle. It's seemingly inevitable.
