South Park- "Breast Cancer Show Ever" - Talkback

I don't see the point. After Star Wars came out they just did the you know what a saur thing. And they did the joke in the movie.

We all know why the movie was bad, I don't see why they have to painstakingly make a list through the episode. South Park isn't Family Guy, they are a bit more creative than bullet points.

I don't get the South Park rape thing.

I have no idea what you mean here. I don't think they are anti-Lucas. I think they just clearly think the Star Wars prequels are crud and Indy 4 was crud.

Reportedly, Spielberg himself called Parker and Stone and praised them for the film revisionism episode in 2002 that came out after ET Special Edition (Where they did indeed pervert ET). If anything that episode shows how much they love Raiders of the Lost Ark since they lifted entire scenes and dialogue from it.

So it's not about being anti-Lucas or anti-Spielberg, just how they mess up these great things that they created.

Giving at least a few more reasons as to why they thought the film was abominable would have been better than being saying it's so bad they can't talk about it.

The episode was bad. The Cartman plot felt uber-forced and it seemed like Trey and Matt were just going through the motions, wheras at least it seemded that Spielberg and Lucas were at least having a little fun making Indy IV, even if the final product ultimatly suck (and I personally didn't think Indy IV was THAT bad. Jeez, why don't they go after Friedburg and Seltzer, who are the ones that are truly ruining Hollywood).

Bottom line, that episode made me feel betrayed as a South Park fan the way Trey and Matt felt betrayed as IJ fans by Indy IV.

At least Spielberg demanded that the orginal version of ET be put on DVD along with the SE.

On a semi-related note, I'm a bit bothered by the fact that Trey and Matt have tons of money, and they don't even bother to give any to Lloyd Kaufman (President of Troma Entertainment and Creator of the Toxic Avenger), who distributed their first film "Cannibal! The Musical", according to Lloyd's interview with Matt and Trey on the "Make Your Own Damn Movie" DVD set.

Also, isn't it funny that Lloyd supports PETA, and yet Trey and Matt royally blasted PETA in an episode of South Park.

And if my logic seems odd, remember I have Aspergers Syndrome.

Yes, your logic is odd. They made a movie with Lloyd, he made what was due to him then. They shouldn't just be giving him money for projects he has nothing to do with. That makes no sense whatsoever.

If you get a job at a company, and then that job leads to a higher paying job with another company, should you give your first supervisor money? No. Of course not.

And now, Matt and Trey should hold the same political position he does? Again, it makes no sense.

I think the main reason why it was abominable was right there onscreen.

I don't get your reasoning. The feeling I got from Indy 4 was that Spielberg didn't want to do it at all, and after all the posturing about doing it old school, they still put lots of Lucas stupidity and horrible looking CGI in it.

I'm not sure why South Park has to go after the subjects you feel are more worthy of ridicule. Quite frankly, I think people need to stop acting like certain subjects are not above ridicule for South Park. Especially when Parker and Stone have even ridiculed their own work.

I think you are really forcing this argument yourself.

That was mainly due to the intensely negative reaction of the ET special edition which he approved every step of the way. When you say demanded, you make it sound like Spielberg's movie was taken away from him and they did these cuts without his full knowledge and approval. That was hardly the case.

I'm not sure what you are getting at here again. Why would you be bothered by this? Why does Lloyd Kaufman deserve more money from them? He hardly has any sort of intellectual claim to South Park.

I think the blasting of PETA was accurate, funny, and hilarious. But I don't understand this point at all either. There is no rule in the movie business that you have to share the same political beliefs in order to work together.

OK, so maybe Spielberg and Lucas didn't really want to make Indy IV, but that doesn't change that "The Chinese Probrem" was one of the worst episodes of South Park ever IMHO. I mean when Cartman and Butters don't entertain me, then something is very wrong.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not all that bothered by the altering of movies to "improve" them. What bothers me is the attempts to bury the original versions.

Let me put it this way: Lloyd helped give Matt and Trey their start, and I feel that the least they could in return is to give him a little money, especially Troma is not in peak financial shape in the moment.

I'm all for PETA blasting myself. I just find the differing opinions fascinating.

It's as popular as it's ever been, and if anything it's much darker, edgier and has a lot of work put into it.

Quality is subjective, and sometimes they plop out a stinker, but I like it as much as I ever have.

Did Lloyd Kaufman truly give them their start? Did he even directly fund Cannibal the musical? I don't think he deserves that much credit. He certainly doesn't deserve South Park money.

I don't quite see the connection or relevance though.

It's not like Kaufman was working with Parker and Stone when they did the episode. Quite frankly, I'm offended that Kaufman is a Jew that supports PETA who trivialized the Holocaust. PETA does not deserve to exist anymore.
