South Park - "201" - Talkback [4/21]

True, but I'm pretty sure that Turner's S&P would have went the extra step and stop it in mid-production before they could get to animating the whole thing.

While I can agree that this censorship is a load of bull. and I can understand where CC is coming from with the censorship, I still think that CC are cowards and they're allowing terrorism to work back in Cartoon Wars Part 2, where the Fox executive was afraid of airing a shot of Muhammad being shown due to terrorist threat.

We don't even know if there were any actual threats. So far all anyone has mentioned is that dude on that stupid web site saying stupid things. Yes, it was a veiled threat, but I don't think anyone was under the impression that he was going to carry it out, because he's a spineless wuss. He was urging others to carry it out. But that kind of stuff happens all the time.

I have to wonder if the network actually got any legitimate threats, or if it was really just that. If a security lockdown happened every time someone said something stupid on the internet, well.......

3 long bleeps, and may Pip rest in peace (Too bad we didn't see Kenny die again).

What does the South Park guys have in store for episode #202?

I thought the censorship at the end was intentional. It was very funny.

Pip's death is the only thing I really didn't like about that episode.
It felt so... wrong.

I loved Stan's facial expression at the end of the lesson.

To be fair, they are the ones who air the series and both belong to a parent company that owns the rights to the entire series. As such, they do have a right to do whatever they want with the show, regardless of whether its right or not.

I'm not praising them for their actions though, because if Parker and Stone are being truthful then that's just plain cowardly of the network. However, I still get the feeling this whole thing might just be one huge elaborate troll which would make for a good 30 minutes of television.

I can't believe people are trying to look on the brighter side of censorship here. Especially censorship that came about because of death threats made by some religious radical. This is an outrage. Be outraged!

America as a country has gotten far too used to allowing fringe groups and nuts and mystics to control the public debate. Comedy Central's sniveling, cowardly appeasement sets a terrible precedent and makes me seriously consider whether I should watch their other programs until they reverse their decision and allow the episode to air uncensored.

Don't take this as anything against you guys, or anything, but next time I go to a music store, I'll check to see if they still have The Complete Fifth Season in stock. If it's been removed....gah.

I'm speechless.

I never thought Comedy Central would go so far as to bleep out nearly a minute of dialog. On a TV-MA show. Which was once allowed to use the S-word over 100 times in one episode, and not but a few weeks ago portrayed men bouncing down the street on their giant, inflamed scrota.

Why would they bleep out the last 35 minutes if it made no mention of Mohammad? South Park has gotten away with so much, so I guess this is just "that one episode" that does not.

All the censorship just proves the point of how absurd it all is though. I think it makes it even funnier.

Sort of like the curse word episode where Mr. Garrison isn't bleeped for a certain word because he's gay and actually points out when someone else (Jimbo) says it and isn't bleeped.
