Sound quality: Bose and FLAC

I'm trying to find things to ask for christmas and I've heard about Bose having really good sound quality. If all my music is encoded in mp3 format, will it make a difference? Would I need to have music in FLAC format or use cd's in a cd player instead of hooking the headphones up to my computer to really experience it?

Also, I'd like a sample FLAC file (any will do) to test out the headphones I have now.

Thanks

hi,

That's the eternal question.
The only judge will be your hears. But there is no need to buy a $5.000 system to listen to mp3s.

You have to remember that flac, monkey audio, etc are lossless format, it means that these files are the exact copy of the CD you are ripping.

mp3 : small size but lossy.
flac : large size but exact copy.

if you need a flac sample, just put a cd in your player and rip it to flac with EAC and flac frontend.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother with Bose. Are you looking at headphones or regular speakers?

If you're looking for head or earphones, look into Sennheisser, Grodo, or Shure. Those are some of my personal favorites.

If you're not looking for phones, look at some of PSB's bookshelf speakers, they're great quality, and they've got some lines that are pretty affordable.
