Sound Experiment: Why does the clamp create a node?

We conducted a sound experiment as a test in class.
We had hold a cardboard tube horizontally by using a clamp.
We then placed a speaker that was connected to a computer in front of the tube and made it emit different sounds of known frequencies to determine which ones would resonate (Make a standing wave inside the tube)
This was fine but there is a question that then asks why the clamp holding the tube creates a NODE at that point? Why is this?
