Sound Driver Issue, Or Is it My Headset?

Ok My Sound Drivers Were out of Date and i Updated them I have a program That makes sure they are up to date So heres my 2 Questions

1. Is it Possible that Even Though i have the right sound driver that i have to further update it?

2. Is It Possible That its My Headset?

For those of you Firmillar with Steam, I Went into there Voice test and When you Have a Mic Plugged in the Colors aren't Greyish but they were, and when i went in for a Sound Check in Volume control It Didnt find a Mic
 
The easy way to check and make sure it is not your headset is to use it on another computer or sound system. If it works then its something to do with your sound card. Make sure that your sound is not muted. If you have updated your driver then it should work. It could have gone bad too.
